1 Top Thrill Dragster is negatively affected by unfavourable weather conditions as both a high altitude and high velocity ride. Rain, high

winds, and/or lightning may result in the closing of the ride depending on

the severity. It will close in high winds and any kind of precipitation.



1 There is no minimum age requirement, but passengers must meet the miniumum height requirement of 52inches and a maximum of

78inches to ride. Some persons over a certain weight/waist size will not be permitted to ride

if the seat and lapbar harness cannot accommodate them. Passengers on Dragster

may not bring any loose articles onto the train and will be required to wear shirts and

footwear. Headphones must be removed before boarding.

1 On July 14, 2004 at around 8:20 PM, four people were struck by flying debris while

riding the coaster. Reports indicated that its metal cable frayed as the train was being launched. Shards of metal sheared off of it and struck the riders as the train launched.

The riders were left with abrasions mainly on their arms and one rider had cuts on his face. The injured ones were treated at the park's

first aid station, and two of them later sought further medical attention on their own.

1 In 2000, a version of Handbags and Gladrags was specifically arranged

by Big George as the theme song on the BBC series The Office (UK TV series)|The Office. Three versions

were recorded:

Dragstrip

1 A 'dragstrip' is a facility for conducting automobile and

motorcycle acceleration events such as drag racing. Although a 'quarter

mile' (402 m) is the best known measure for a drag track, many tracks are eighth mile (201 m)

tracks, and the premiere classes will run 1,000 foot (304.8m) races. The race is begun from a standing start which allows three factors to affect the outcome of the race: reaction

time, torque, and traction.


Dragstrip - Features

1 A dragstrip is a straight, purpose-built racetrack, typically an eighth,

ten feet longer than three-sixteenths, or a quarter of a mile long

(660/1,000/1320 feet, 201/304.8/402 metres), with an additional shutdown area to allow vehicles room to stop

after crossing the finish line


Dragstrip - Vehicle equipment requirements

1 Like all other motorsports, drag racing has many safety requirements for the vehicles that compete. These

can be found in the applicable governing body's rule book. Most

rules do not apply until the vehicle exceeds a specified time, such as 10.99 seconds. This allows anyone with a regular production vehicle to

take part for very little cost, and encourages participation of many people who cannot afford a proper

racing vehicle.


Dragstrip - Typical quarter mile times

1 Acceleration times differ even between identical vehicles due to

widely varying factors - vehicle tune, elevation, driver/rider differences, payload, track surface conditions,

weather conditions.



1 NOTE: Nitro Funny Car records set at , which since 2008 (NHRA) and

2012 (FIA) is the official distance for both Top Fuel and Funny Car in the

respective sanctioing bodies. ANDRA does for selected Top Fuel races at

certain circuits.
