AppearanceRainbow skink looks like a rainbow coloured snake with feetThey are a very scaly and have a very long tailSkinks are 3-4cm long not including their long thin tail
Where they liveRainbow skinks prefer moist areas like litter, rocks and logsThey lay 20-100 small white eggs that are 8-10mm longIt is common for them to lay their eggs in the soil of potted plants
Interesting factsRainbow skinks are native to Australia but were seen in Auckland during the 1960s.Adult Rainbow skinks are smaller than other skinks but they all look similar
How they are a threatRainbow skinks are posing a threat to new Zealand's native skinksThey will fight native animals for food and habitatRainbow skinks have invaded other country's such as Hawaii so they are a threat all around the world
