Experience Sylvia’s executive coaching is a natural extension of the substantial research she has conducted on executive leadership and her continuing interest in developing the leaders of tomorrow. She taught for 16 years in the undergraduate and graduate programs at both the Kenan-Flagler Business School at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the business school at NC A&T State University. She has been an investigator on numerous research projects focusing on the effectiveness of top management teams in corporations. She is the president of her own consulting firm, offering services in the design and implementation of strategic initiatives and in coaching senior managers to enhance their individual performance. She has industry experience in the operation of entrepreneurial firms, in financial analysis for the federal government, and in the operation of small retail firms.

Current Role Sylvia is an adjunct staff member at the Center for Creative Leadership and is a Board Certified Coach. She also is president and owner of Black Star Strategies, a firm that specializes in strategic and executive leadership consulting. As the principal consultant at Black Star Strategies, Sylvia works primarily with small entrepreneurial firms, nonprofits and faith-based institutions in developing a sustainable strategic planning process and strengthening the leadership capabilities of their staffs.

Educational Background Sylvia holds a Ph.D. in strategic management from Columbia University, an M.B.A. from the University of Kansas, an M.S. in computer science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a B.S. in physics from Howard University. She is a member of the honor societies of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. Additionally, she has attended executive education courses at the Harvard Business School, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.

Experience Before entering the world of corporate coaching, Dr. Patrick Callahan's primary industry experiences were in the military, and in clinical psychology. Patrick spent eight years as an Infantry and Special Forces Officer, including a combat deployment to Iraq in 2004-5. Patrick left active duty as an 18A, or 'Green Beret,' assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group in 2009; a full list of badges, tabs, awards, and assignments is available on request. Previously, Patrick spent eight years in clinical psychology, including teaching positions at New York University, Cabrini Medical Center, and Bellevue Hospital Center. He has also held clinical positions at Bellevue Hospital and more recently at Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC). Patrick is licensed to practice clinical psychology in AL and NC and continues to provide supervision to junior psychologists through a faculty appointment at WAMC in the APA-accredited Clinical and Operational Psychology Residency.

Current Role Patrick joined CCL's adjunct staff in 2011 as a coach. He also continues to coach elite military special operators through his work at the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center & School (USAJFKSWCS) in Ft Bragg, NC. Finally, Patrick maintains an independent consulting practice in which he coaches elite military and corporate clients as well as provides brief psychological treatment primarily to veterans and their families.

Educational Background In 2009-10, Patrick received a year of post-graduate, specialty training in clinical and operational psychology at the USAJFKSWCS at Ft Bragg, NC, where he worked in performance enhancement and coaching. Previously, he completed a year-long, APA-accredited, clinical psychology internship at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. Experience David is a feedback coach, an executive coach, and leadership development facilitator. He brings experience from successful careers that vary from entrepreneur to engineer to educator. As Adjunct Faculty with the Center for Creative Leadership since 1996, he has collaboratively supported clients as they develop into the leaders they choose to be.

Prior to focusing on human development, David founded and for 18 years directed a suite of vertically integrated corporations that included a design and manufacturing firm, wholesale distribution units, and retail locations. He was active in all aspects of business development and operations, including marketing and sales, finance, sourcing, logistics, information management, site design, and human resources. He drove success by creating very fast and lean operational systems while nurturing a highly performing team of people from five continents. Earlier, David was both a software engineer and leadership development trainer at NASA’s Mission Control Center. He designed spacecraft trajectory simulation software, trained flight controllers in planning on-orbit crew activities, and provided live support to Space Shuttle flights. A pioneer in the introduction of participative management within the manned spaceflight program, he trained and led engineering teams in collaborative leadership and problem solving techniques. This initiative led to significant changes in products, processes, and - most importantly - within people.

David conceived and instructed a university-based eight-week executive coaching course for adult learners. In addition, he designed and delivered for-credit undergraduate courses and taught within public schools.

Current Role David is an adjunct staff member for the Center for Creative Leadership. He designs and facilitates custom programs and also serves as a feedback coach and an Executive Coach. He also coaches action learning and development teams and assists in the training of other CCL coaches – doing so in Spanish in Latin America. In addition, David is the principal of Dorn Leadership, a private consulting firm that helps leaders explore their potential and increase their performance. In this capacity, David serves as an executive coach, workshop designer, facilitator, and author.

Experience Diane has been a Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) coach for more than twenty-five years. She has worked with hundreds of executives, including leaders from the U.S., Europe, South American, and Asia. She has coached executives in a wide range of companies (e.g., technology, healthcare, and financial services) as well as leaders in numerous nonprofit and government organizations. She has extensive experience coaching clients from diverse cultures. Diane has also participated as a team member for CCL research projects that pinpoint the best practices in management and leadership development, including the CCL Singapore Lessons of Experience project and an early study on women’s leadership challenges.

Current Role In addition to her CCL work, Diane has her own coaching business in New York City. She enjoys working one-on-one with high potential and seasoned leaders. Recently, Diane has been selected to be an online moderator for Frontline Leader Impact, an e-learning course that is the result of a partnership between Center for Creative Leadership and the Apollo Group. She also serves as an adjunct coach for the Columbia University Business School Leaderlab course.

Educational Background Diane holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University. She has a master’s in counseling from the University of Florida; her undergraduate major was French. She is a Board Certified Coach and is licensed as a psychologist in New York State.

Her current professional development activities are centered on deepening her knowledge of brief coaching solutions, an approach that supports leaders in discovering their own best resources to reach their goals. Experience Zsuzsanna (pronounced “Shooshanna”) began her career in university counseling centers in Iowa, Tennessee and Washington D.C. She held positions as coordinator of clinical services, coordinator of training, staff counselor and adjunct professor. She also directed a nationally accredited psychology internship program. Since 1986, she has provided feedback coaching and facilitated group activities for leaders and managers in the Federal Government and with affiliates of the Center for Creative Leadership. She has coached members of the intelligence community and other federal government workers, as well as coachees from state and municipal government and the telecommunications, health, financial and chemical industries.

Current Role Zsuzsanna works as a consultant in leadership development and has a private practice in Washington, DC. She is licensed in D.C. and certified to administer and interpret a wide variety of assessment and 360-degree feedback instruments including Benchmarks®, Executive Dimensions®, Skillscope®, Conflict Dynamics Profile® (CDP), 360 by Design®, California Psychological Inventory 260™ (CPI™) , Workplace Big Five Profile 4.0™ (WB5P™), FIRO-B® and MBTI®. In her private practice, she specializes in stress and motivational concerns, women’s issues, adult children of alcoholics, cross-cultural issues, eating disorders as well as anxiety, depression and work related problems.

Educational Background She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Zsuzsanna’s doctoral research explored career patterns of women. She has since published other research on the use of self-help books in therapy and on short-term therapy models in university counseling centers. Zsuzsanna has been trained in working with trauma victims and in relational and self-psychological approaches to psychotherapy.

Experience Lynne has worked in academia, state government, the private sector and the federal government, including the White House, NASA, and the General Accountability Office. She has held positions directing and working as a psychologist in career development centers, employee assistance programs, community mental health centers, and college counseling centers. Since 1985, she has worked as a feedback coach with a variety of leadership and executive coaching programs offered by the U.S. intelligence community and affiliates of the Center for Creative Leadership.

Current Role Currently Lynne divides her time between consulting and her private practice located in Rockville, Maryland. In her private practice she provides psychotherapy to individuals and couples, specializing in trauma and stress reduction, depression, anxiety, and coping with life transitions. She also provides executive coaching services and assessment and feedback. Lynne has a special interest in entrepreneurs and dual-career couples and their families. Her doctoral research focused on dual career professional couples with children, and she has written several chapters for edited academic books on this topic. Experience Charles is an Executive Coach and for the past 25 years has served as an Adjunct Feedback Specialist and Executive Coach at one of the Center for Creative Leadership’s (CCL®) affiliates at the National Leadership Institute at the University of Maryland. He offers 35 years of applied experience in the field of leadership and organizational development within the business, governmental, academic, and not-for-profit sectors.

His corporate experience of five years includes a role as an Industrial Social Psychologist in the Human Resources Division of the Gulf Oil Corporation where he was involved in the development of an individualized career development program and served as a trainer in the Gulf Management Institute. Experience Over twenty-five years as a Human Resources executive in the healthcare industry with consulting and coaching expertise in organizational assessment, diagnosis, and intervention at the individual, team, department, and whole system levels. Ten years as a college professor in business, organizational behavior, management, and human resources.

Eleanor came to coaching and consulting via hands-on leadership and operational roles in healthcare and education, within the acute care hospital industry for profit and not for profit hospital systems and teaching in two graduate business programs, and founding her own consulting company. She was a VP of Human Resources and Operations for two multi hospital systems in the US. Her US based company specializes in organizational consulting, executive assessment, development, and coaching. Eleanor has worked with executives in the engineering, finance, gaming, government, healthcare, hospitality, health information, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical industries.

Experience Dr. Larry Lewis is a licensed clinical and consulting psychologist with over 30 years of experience in the Department of Defense as an active duty officer and a government contractor. He has served as an in-house coach and consultant to both frontline leaders and supervisors and senior leaders and managers on matters such as training, research, organizational climate and operational issues. Larry has deep experience with assessment for selection and for development. He has conducted hundreds of assessments of personnel seeking positions in highly specialized organizations and has provided members of these organizations leadership coaching, professional development training, post-event debriefings, and consultation to special projects. As a faculty member at the Army Medical Department Center and School, and as an instructor in an Air Force pre-deployment course, Larry developed and taught courses focused on enhancing performance and promoting resiliency in high stress, high stakes environments.

Experience Dr. Geri Lyons began her professional career in executive coaching and leadership development in 1987. As a coach, Geri works with talented individuals seeking to enhance productivity and performance in the public and private sectors. Her clients come from diverse backgrounds, such as the military, intelligence, security and protective services, justice, health care, education, information technology, medical and scientific research, domestic and international financial services, engineering, transportation, retail, utilities, and telecommunications. Before becoming a coach, Geri was a staff psychologist at The George Washington University Counseling Center. Her duties included teaching, supervision, research, and assessment. She also coordinated the career counseling and vocational testing program for the university community. He provides one on one leadership development consultations to executives, is a trainer for the “Leadership Development Program” and the “Foundations of Leadership”, both of which are the Center for Creative Leadership’s executive training efforts, and he has provided executive coaching through the “Leadership Online” program. He has done classroom presentations on leadership for the UMUC Executive MBA program, and has prepared and presented a podcast on Executive Coaching for UMUC. For 12 years, Bill was the senior psychological consultant at a DC outplacement firm. He worked in a program for transitioning military officers from several government agencies.

Current Role Since 2008, Bill has joined the Federal Consulting Group, a business unit of the US government, to provide coaching to federal employees. This has brought assignments for several government agencies. Since 2005, Bill does leadership coaching for the Key Executive Leadership Program, at the Institute for the Study of Public Policy Implementation at American University, Washington DC. This program provides development for governmental leaders aspiring to the Senior Executive Service.

Educational Background Bill holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park; a Master’s Degree in Education from Loyola College in Baltimore; and a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. Bill is certified in Class A psychological instruments for diagnostic purposes and Class B and C psychological instruments for personality and career assessment. He is certified in many 360 instruments including Benchmarks, Emotional and Social Competencies Inventory, Conflict Dynamics Profile and Hogan Assessments.

Experience Kristin K. Woolley is a retired Lieutenant Colonel Psychologist from the U.S. Army and held various leadership and supervisory positions from Platoon Leader to senior Command Psychologist. For the last six years of her Army Service Kris worked in the Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, NC serving as a command consultant at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare and School, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), and finally as a special staff officer to the Commanding General, United States Army Special Operations Command (USASFC). Her primary area of expertise has been to teach performance enhancement, leadership (to include Special Operations Forces 360 leader assessments), and preventative mental health skills to soldiers and commanders at every level. Additionally, Kris developed and managed specialized training and selection programs for elite operators. Kris also has special training in cognitive assessments and brain-behavior relationships as a Neuropsychology Fellow at Tripler Army medical center in Honolulu, HI.

Current Role Kristin Woolley is a feedback coach and mentor at the Center for Creative Leadership. Her work at the Center includes coaching for the Leadership Development Program and supporting additional courses for coaching training and assessment.

Educational Background Kristin Woolley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado and a Masters of Education in Counseling from Boston University. Kristin earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University in 1998. Additionally, Kristin has had training in crisis negotiation and indirect assessments for the military.

Professional Affiliations Kristin’s most recent publication is on Selection and Assessment in Leadership in Dangerous Situations (2011). Kris is a Licensed Psychologist and Board Certified with the American Board of Professional Psychology. Kris is an active member of the American Psychological Association, the American Board of Professional Psychology, and The Association for Applied Sports Psychology.
