2. Why is it important to raise awareness?
We still need to inform :
• that fakes are illegal goods
• Counterfeiting is endangering the economy – loss of jobs, threat to R&D investment
• Risks for consumers : health and safety risks, deception as to quality of the goods, mistrust in the market, threat to sensitive data and money)
• It is an unacceptable intrusion of illegal activities in everyday’s life
We need to show that we are actively fighting this plague

In South‐East Asia (FH Center in Hong Kong), Central Asia, Europe and the Middle‐East
Customs and Police are the « gate‐keepers » of our markets
At best, 3% of goods are « checked » at the border

Objectives:
• try to make the consumer support the cause
• Tell him/her how far he/she can be personally affected
