The Raja Ampat Islands is a world phenomenon that is naturally natural with amazing and various

numbers of biological diversity. This place is also known as a blue and green world in the center of the

area, in where you can see four stunningly gorgeous islands surrounding the place. Those islands are the

Waigeo, Misool, Salawari, Balanta. The Raja Ampat is the place where you find heaven in Papua, the

most exotic place in Indonesia.

Wayag Island

The Isle of Wayag is actually the unoccupied island which is still a part of Raja Ampat. The Wayag Islands

So, Misool Island is also one of the main islands in Raja Ampat, This island lays for more than 2035 km.

You should not forget to visit the islands on the surrounding area of the Wayag Islands, such as the

Salawati, Batanta and Waigeo. These places are also known to have the most beautiful and famous eco-

resort for your romantic getaways.

Things You Can Do In Raja Ampat

So, aside from doing the underwater photography, tasting the local cuisine and enjoying the beauty of

the ocean biological diversity, you may wonder about what other things that you can do in Raja Ampat.

You can actually do a lot of things, such as diving, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, canoeing, tracking and

enjoying the waterfall around it.

1. Watching the ghost of the ocean. You can see this unique thing on the West Waegio, especially at the

front of the Urbinasopen and Yesner Village. There will be a beam of light that is coming out from the

sea to the surface of the water for about 10-20 minutes. They only come for a short time and will be

gone again, and can only be seen around the end of the year. The locals usually call them the “Sea

Ghost”. But in fact, those are only the illusion of the sunset that you will be able to be enjoyed in this

place.

2. Traveling to the Tolomol Cave. This cave is a place that you shouldn’t miss out. You will be able to see

the greatness of the nature on the caves around the area. Here, you can find the painting of the human

palms and the picture of the giant animals that were drawn by the prehistoric human. Meanwhile on the

north side of the Waigeo, you can also see the heritage of the World War II where

recommend you to visit the west and the south side of Waegio. But you should not go alone to do the

4. Visiting the local villages. You can walk to the local villages and also travel to the hidden places on the

surrounding area of the place. You will be able to find some gorgeous waterfall and ancient caves that

haven’t been touch by the activity of human life.

Route to Raja Ampat

It’s easy to reach Raja Ampat. Departing from Jakarta, you can use airlines such as Batavia Air, Lion Air,

and others. Mostly, you must transit in Makassar before continue to Sorong.

From Sorong, there are many places for boat rent, ranging from 2 to 5 million per day, highly depends

on duration of rent. If you are curious why the rent is so expensive, it’s because the fuel cost in Sorong

and Raja Ampat touches 10,000 Rupiah per liter.

There are many types of boat available for Raja Ampat, from 15-passengers boat to a big-size boat up to

50 passengers. You can choose and rent, but make sure to make bargain, it’s worth try.

Tips, it’s better you go there in group, which will save your pocket significantly, especially for

transportation cost for boat rent. The most expensive rent is up to 30 million Rupiah just to reach Wayag

or Misool Island. Anyway, even with less than 15 million Rupiah, sufficient to take you around Raja

Ampat. From Waisai, capital of District Raja Ampat, to Arborek, you can view the beauty of Raja Ampat.

It typically cost, on average, 3 million Rupiah for rent, just multiply it with days you’re staying.

A word of caution, boats in Raja Ampat are not friendly for smokers. It’s because gasoline is stored

beneath your seat, so.. definitely not a good idea to smoke on the boat. The crew won’t hesitate to

prohibit before you even try, high risk.

Using this boat, allows you to stop by and visit many interesting and beautiful places, from Pianemo with

its corals, to Sawingrai Village. Ride the ceiling of the boat and you’ll feel the breeze of ocean wind.

Usually, boats there also provide float buoy, and snorkeling stuff for you, cool!

Make sure to pay attention what the ship crew tells you, and don’t forget your medicine just for

emergency case or if you feel unconfortable with the waves. Get your camera handy cause you’ll never

know when you can capture the perfect moment on your way to Raja Ampat.
