We get blessings from fasting in Ramadan! We can practice fasting using this chart. Since

some of us are still too young to fast every day, we can do half-fasts to practice. Color in the

box for each day with whether you did a full fast, half-day fast, or didn’t fast at all. Write

DAY 1: A GIFT FROM AllahThe month of Ramadan is here! Allah gave us the month of Ramadan as a gift. All of our

rewards and blessings are multiplied. Draw yourself receiving blessings from Allah! Try to

think of all the things you are thankful for!

Page 1Week 1: God’s Gift

Even though Shaytan is locked up, it is still possible for us to do wrong things. If we use

our willpower, we can start to replace bad habits with good habits!

Write down or draw that you sometimes do that is wrong, and promise Allah not to do it

Now write down or draw some good habits you can replace your bad habits with!

During the month of Ramadan, Allah locks Shaytan away so he does not whisper to us. Allah

wants his believing superheroes to become better heroes without any distractions during

this special month. Connect the dots to lock Shaytan up!

day 3: A LOVE LETTER FOR ALLAHRamadan is month of Allah’s love. Allah loves us so much that during Ramadan all of our

good deeds rewards are worth double and sometimes even more than that! One way we

can show our appreciation to Allah for His gift is by doing more good deeds and worship.

Write or draw a short letter to Allah saying what good things you plan to do this Ramadan

to be better.

day 4: THE KEY TO THE FASTAllah’s biggest gift of love to us in the month of Ramadan is the act of fasting. When we

fast, it helps us develop good habits. Here are some of the habits we can build:

Taqwa

Taqwa means remembering that Allah is always there. We want to have so much love for Allah

that He becomes like a friend to us. When you know someone you love is watching, you want

to do what they like and stay away from what they do not like.

Awareness

Awareness means thinking about Allah wehenever we do something. We should always be

thinking about our actions. We should look at our good and bad habits and try to become

better each day.

Piety

Piety means that you believe in Allah. You do the good deeds Allah asks us to do and stay

away from what is haraam.

Love

Love is when you care about someone so much that you want to do what they like. We love

Allah so much that we want to do what Allah asks us to do and stay away from what He asks

us not to do. We know Allah knows what is best for us!

Unity

Unity in Islam is working together to please Allah. Allah wants us to help each other become

better Muslims!

Blessings

Blessings are gifts from Allah. We should be thankful for everything, from the air that we

breathe to the food on our table.

Compassion

Compassion means having love towards other people. We should try to help others, especially

the poor and the needy.

Allah knows what is best for us. He does not want some people to fast under certain

conditions. Here are some restrictions of fasting, when people may not be able to fast:

Young Age // can fast but isn’t required to

When a person becomes baligh, this means they have to do what is wajib, like fasting in

Ramadan. Before this time, young children can fast if they want to, but they do not have to

Sick // required to fast but can skip

When someone is so sick that if they don’t eat and drink they will become worse, then they

can skip their fast in Ramadan while they are that sick. They have to make up their fasts later.

Traveling // not allowed to fast

When someone travels for a short time, they are not allowed to fast. However, some people

that travel very often or stay somewhere for more than 10 days still have to fast. They have to

make up their fasts later.

Monthly Break // not allowed to fast

When girls are closer to adulthood, their bodies go through changes. Sometimes this means

they are not allowed to fast. They have to make up their fasts later.

Pregnancy // required to fast but can skip

Moms who are pregnant might have to eat food and drink during the day to help the mom

and baby stay healthy. If a mom thinks her or the baby will be hurt by fasting, then she can

skip fasting during that time. She has to make up her fasts later.

Nursing a baby // required to fast but can skip

After a baby is born, it needs mom’s milk. Mom’s need energy to make the milk, so sometimes

they need food and water throughout the day. If the mom feels like the baby will be hurt by

fasting, then she can skip and make her fasts up later.

Old Age // required to fast but can skip

When a person gets old, sometimes they become too weak to fast. If they feel like their health

will get worse if they fast then they can skip fasting. They do not have to make up their fasts.

day 6: THINGS THAT BREAK

Like salah, fasting also can be broken by certain actions. There are many rules for when

an action can break your fast. Some simple actions we can avoid are eating and drinking!

Below, draw what you can do instead of eating and drinking when you’re fasting.

day 7: HEROES AROUND THE WORLD SYRIA

Every culture has different Ramadan traditions. In Syria, there is a man who wakes up very

early in the morning to walk on the streets to wake people up for suhoor. This man is called

a “mas’harati”. He carries a drum and chants in a loud voice so people wake up on time. Find

the differences between the two mas’haratis and color them in!
