99 Years of Service to Holy Name School! For many years, Holy Name School has been blessed to have these three women as teachers in our classrooms. They have devoted their lives to changing the lives of countless children. We can’t thank them enough for the roots they have put down here at Holy Name School. Janet Sauter has spent 43 years of her life teaching at Holy Name School, Colleen Mertz has been with Holy Name for 37 years and Karen Smolinski has been here for 19 years. Together that is 99 years of service to Holy Name School! Everyone wishes you only happiness and rest during your retirement.

Thank you on behalf of all Holy Name School Alumni, Staff, Students and Families!

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Holy Name School has been blessed by God in multiple ways each of the past 99 years. It is ironic that today, we find ourselves recognizing three outstanding teachers for their collective 99 years of service. I have said many times that Holy Name is a special place, and three of the top reasons are Colleen Mertz, our Kindergarten teacher for 37 years, Janet Sauter, our third grade teacher for 43 years, and Karen Smolinski, our technology teacher for 19 years. Their passion, care, love for their students, and dedication to teaching is amazing. What they have accomplished over their collective 99 years is remarkable. These professionals each achieved the Archdiocesan teacher of the year award and they will be GREATLY MISSED by the Holy Name School community. We wish them only joy and rest throughout their retirement.

A special shout out to our entire faculty in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week held May 1st through May 5th. Holy Name School is a special place because of the love, dedication, and passion our teachers have for these children. There is no price tag you can place on the value of our exceptional teaching staff. Due to the talents of our remarkable teachers, we continue to grow in Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth grade enrollment. Enrollment for the 2015-16 school year was 216 students; this year; 2016-2017 we have maintained 250 students and recruitment for the 2017-2018 school year remains strong with approximately 280 students registered.

A huge thank you to all of our donors and alumni for their support of Holy Name School! It is because of this continued support that Holy Name School is thriving spiritually and academically.

You are always welcome at Holy Name School. Spring brings so many activities in the school building, and we want you to know you are always invited. On Friday, May 19th at 1:30 pm, Holy Name School will present the eighth grade honor awards and high school scholarship accolades. This assembly also focuses on our second through seventh grade students who will receive one of the sixty-six Family Fund Scholarships. A special thank you to all of our family fund donors; it is because of you that our work continues for these wonderful children.

On Tuesday, May 23rd at 7:00 pm at Holy Name Church, twenty-two outstanding students will graduate eighth grade from Holy Name School. Ninety-five percent of our twenty-two students are going on to a Catholic high school in Omaha. We are extremely proud of their accomplishments and know that God has a bright future planned for each of them. Please join us for our end of year celebrations.

100 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Parish Activities• Pray with us! Since January 1st and continuing through December 31st, 2018 please take a moment each week, or

whenever you choose, to pray this prayer in recognition of our great thanks for being here for 100 years!

With gratitude and a joyful spirit, we come to you Lord God. We thank you for the many blessings you have given us. As we celebrate the one hundred year anniversary of our parish and school, we thank you for those who planted the seed of faith in our community, and for those who continue to nurture it. We thank you for strengthening us with life giving sacraments. Sustain our faith, bless our good works, and amend our imperfections. We entrust our growing multicultural parish and school into your loving care. Protect, guide, and renew us with your grace, mercy, and love. May we always be a family that cares for one another. May our faith never falter in the face of life’s challenges. May we always be faithful to the Gospel and always put our time, talent, and treasure at your service. May those who do not know you, come to believe, for Holy is Your Name. With the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother, bring us to share the joy of the saints in your heavenly kingdom, through Christ our Lord, AMEN.

FROM THE STUDENTS

We wanted to share with you what a few of our 8th Grade students have to say about their soon to be alma mater.

Jayleesha Cooper DUCHESNE ACADEMY

When I hear Holy Name I think of family. Going to school is like going to a second home. All the teachers and students are

loving and accepting of everyone. No one ever judges you and everyone loves you for who you are. I am really going to miss

Holy Name, but I know it will always be my home.

Cecilia Martinez MERCY HIGH SCHOOL

I have gone to Holy Name since Pre-K, and there is a reason for that. It doesn’t matter your background or even

how you look, everyone accepts you. Everywhere you look you will see a friendly, welcoming face. So that’s how I know even

when I graduate I can always come back to Holy Name School.

Cree Howard MERCY HIGH SCHOOL

Ever since pre-school, Holy Name has been a very accepting place. No matter what you look like or wear, you still are

considered family. No one ever treats you as though you are not welcome. When I get

older and go to high school, I will always remember how Holy Name treated me.

I will always feel welcome here.

Alain Niyogushima NORTHWEST

My time at Holy Name has been wonderful. The first thing that you notice when you

arrive is a sense of history. The history and friendships are the most important thing

at Holy Name that you automatically want to be a part of. Everyone is friendly here,

and they are very willing to accept me and my family. The teachers are also very

motivating. They want you to have the best education and put you on the right track.

I will miss them all, Miss Snook mostly!THE
