NEW GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS INFORMATION
WHAT ARE THE NEW GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS?
Colorado Graduation Guidelines are a road map to help students
and their families plan for success after high school. In September
2015, the Colorado State Board of Education adopted a
comprehensive set of guidelines to be used by each school district’s
board of education in establishing requirements for students to
receive a high school diploma. Starting with the class of 2021 and
each class thereafter,Academy District 20 students will be required
to meet new graduation requirements.
Graduates will now need to:
• meet coursework requirements of 50 credits (this has not
changed since being adopted in 2010),
• demonstrate proficiency in both Math and English Language Arts
(ELA) as determined by the Colorado Department of Education.
NEW PROFICIENCY GUIDELINES:
INITIAL TESTING OPTIONS FOR CURRENT JUNIORS
All Juniors will be registered to test on several instruments that
are approved by CDE for measuring Language Arts and Math
Competencies. On January 15, 2020, we will be administering the
Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).
The ASVAB helps students to:
1. Identify, understand, and organize information about interests, skills
and work-related values
2. Identify occupations to investigate and pursue based on their own
interests, values and skills
3. Use career information resources to further explore these
occupations
4. It is also used to determine qualification for enlistment in the US
Armed Forces,
5. It is now an important and accepted option for students to show
mastery in Language Arts and Math.
ASVAB CONTINUED• Within three weeks of taking the ASVAB,
student results will be available!
• Because a student’s ability to graduate could
be impacted by missing this assessment,
parents will be required to “opt out” of this
assessment if you so choose with the
knowledge that this may impede graduation by
sending an email to Ms. Zomchek at
[email protected] by December 10,
2019 so we have accurate numbers for the
ASVAB.
ADDITIONAL TESTING OPTIONS • Testing now has taken on greater significance with the
additional Grad Requirements. It is vital that students
put forth their best effort in the Standardized tests, as
graduation now may depend on test results.
• The Colorado SAT will be administered to all Juniors on
April 14, 2020 here at Rampart.
• Carol Kramer (our Assessment Coordinator) will
provide some tips and tools students can access that
can help them to be most successful in the next few
slides.

ICAP AND NAVIANCEWhat is the relevancy of the Individual
Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) in
Naviance?
Each student in grades 6-12 maintains an Individual
Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) in their personal
Naviance Account. The ICAP sets a course of study
and establishes a meaningful postsecondary plan for
each student based on completion of all requirements
for graduation from Academy District 20 schools. The
College/Career Tab on the Rampart Home page is a
great place to access this and other resources.

THIS IS WHERE STUDENTS CAN ACCESS PSAT/SAT SCORES & FIND TEST PREP TOOLS.
IMPORTANCE OF PSAT SCORES
THE PSAT IS A PREDICTOR OF SCORES ON THE SAT. IF A STUDENT SCORES NEAR OR BELOW 470 IN THE READING & WRITING AND/OR 500 IN MATH
ON THE PSAT, WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND WORKING ON TEST PREP. FOR THE ASVAB AND
SAT IN ORDER TO HELP ACHIEVE THE NECESSARY SCORE FOR GRADUATION!
