Company Background

Rand Sandblasting was founded in

1987 by Louis Glen Sacks. A small company offering abra-

sive blasting and protective coatings, soon grew into a well-established turnkey supplier in the Corrosion Protec-tion Industry. Offering services such as Scaffolding, Sheet-ing, Denso Wrapping, Hot and Cold Insulation, HP & UHP Cleaning, Concrete Rehabilitation and Fire Protection, Rand Sandblasting is now a well-known name and often the supplier of choice.

What sets RSC apart from its competitors is that we have established Companies in many parts of Africa. In this way we are able to provide a superior service, as we are based in or near the country a specific project is taking place. RSC believes in adding to the country’s economy by creating job opportunities and employing local people with the relevant expertise to perform the services we offer. After an intense in-house training course, our teams are able to execute a project with precision and excellence. We strive to uphold a high standard of Quality and Customer satisfaction at all times.

Within the group we have the following BEE status:Rand Sandblasting Projects has a B-BBEE level 4 status and 60% black ownership.Rand Blast Sites is a BWO company and boasts a B-BBEE level 1 and 84% black ownership which currently handles our Power Generation and Petrochemical Projects in S.A.

We employ on average 2 000 people. RSC prides itself on equipping, enabling and providing all necessary resources to its employees, for them to reach their full potential in the task set before them. RSC manages employees in a way which their abilities and strengths are highlighted and developed.

Our Head Office is based in Krugersdorp, South Africa.

The yard boasts an operations area of 142 000m2 as well as 6 000m2 of undercover operational facilities.We have 10 Tower cranes, 4 Mobi Lift cranes and a 50 ton mobile crane all with which we are able to process 2 000 tons of steel per month.

RSC takes the safety of its employees and visitors very seriously as we aim to put mechanisms in place to achieve a LTIFR rate of zero across all our activities.

We have an established Quality Management System by which all our Quality Procedures are detailed.We are a certified ISO 9001 company and are TUV registered.

Corrosion Protection

The aim of corrosion protection is to influence the rate at which reactions occur, resulting in less corrosion over a longer period of time.

By mechanically isolating the package contents from the aggressive corrosive agents, damage is prevented. This is achieved by means of protective layers or coatings.What is essential to remember is the conditions surrounding application of such coatings. Surface preparation, ambient and substrate conditions as well as method of application of the coating need to be closely monitored.

These aspects differ in terms of what coating system is used as well as the specification required.We ensure our work force is trained, educated and supervised to be able to perform the criteria required with 100% confidence in quality delivery.

Denso Steel Protection

We are capable of providing a wide range of application of anti-corrosion protection systems to steelwork and plant.

Abrasive Blasting

Surface preparation is the most important part of the Corrosion Protection process. Simply put, surface preparation is to a coating system what a foundation is to a building.

Blasting to a SANS standard of S.a 2.5 to S.a 3, guarantees our clients, quality work.Our teams are trained and certified to produce the required standard. Together with supervisors and our qualified QC staff, these steps are recorded for the client to review.

Industrial Painting

Most commonly used paint suppliers are Stoncor, Sigma, International Paints, Hempel, Jotun and Plascon.RSC believes a well-established relationship with our paint suppliers is imperative to ensuring we are able to provide the best possible service to our clients. Keeping up to date with new developments and Product data specifications means our work force are constantly up to speed on how best to apply any given coating system.

Scaffolding

With the increase in maintenance and project work for the petrochemical and power-generation industries, it is imperative that we provide access scaffolding in such cases and as a result we are able to supply in excess of 1000 tons of access scaffolding material at any given time. We carefully manage the erection, inspection, handover and dismantle.

We offer an all-round on-site scaffolding management system. Because there are no limitations as to what can be done with scaffolding, we are able to work within a multitude of industries erecting all types of scaffolds, from the most basic applications to specialized structures.

Concrete Rehabilitation

One of the many specialized services RSC offers. Concrete Rehabilitation, is an expertise our teams are well trained in. Product knowledge is regarded as most important when it comes to our services that require much skill and know-how. Our work force are trained and equipped to handle any given project with 100% confidence.

When approaching the problem of a deteriorating reinforced concrete structure, it is necessary to visually observe and make measurements of the corrosion activity, concrete and steel materials, any associated construction materials, in addition to the state of corrosion which the structure has already suffered. After such observations and measurements, an assessment of recommended rehabilitation techniques as well as the best route of execution can be made. From this point measures and materials are considered which will help to mitigate further corrosion deterioration of the structure for its expected life using cathodic protection and/or coatings.

RSC specializes in insulation (thermal, acoustic and cryogenic). Our Thermal Insulation Division offers the supply and expert application of both hot & cold insulation systems.RSC has worked on insulation projects both within South African borders as well as cross boarder countries in Africa.

HP & UHP Cleaning

Widely accepted as an environmentally sound alternative to abrasive blasting.

We have the expertise and equipment available to perform HP and UHP Water Jetting operating at pressures ranging between 68bar (1 000p.s.i) and 2800 bar (40 000p.s.i)

Recognising the need for a BWO partnership in South Africa with all parastatel projects and upliftment programmes. Rand Blast Sites is focused on Power and Energy as the main projects. RBS has successfully been awarded the following projects:
