What is a Time Study?The Random Moment Time Study is the tool Michigan uses to determine the amount of time school staff spend on Medicaid allowable activities.

The results of the time studies are used to determine the amount of reimbursement

What is my Role?When selected, you will receive an email notification from [email protected] notifying you of the date and time of your moment. The notice will include a link to the RMTS website.

Step 1: Save your email notice as you will need the link that is provided.

Step 2: At the exact date and time of your RMTS, make a mental note or jot down what you were doing. Step 3: As soon as possible after your moment, log on to the RMTS website and complete your moment. The state expects timely completion of the moments – within 48 hrs.

Time Study Questions

You will be asked the following questions:

• Who was with you? • What were you doing? • Why are you doing this activity? • Does the Student have an IEP/IFSP in place for the

services your are performing?

Must Knows• You may be selected during a time when you are not at work. The

time study still needs to be completed. Upon logging in to the system, you will be prompted to select one of the following:

o Moment was before or after workdayo Unpaid or paid day offo Yes, I was working

• The participants are selected at random each quarter 12,000 time studies are required annually – this means you have a

good chance of being selected each quarter, sometimes more.

• Your responses are coded by PCG - Please make sure you include enough detail so the answers can be coded correctly.

care service. Note: If the clinician is doing one-on-one supervision or cueing,

the response should be specific enough to allow the coder to code it appropriately.
