The Rat Terrier was developed in the USA by a group of lace workers who
emigrated from Nottingham, England. This dog was developed by
crossing the Smooth Coated Fox Terrier, English White Terrier and the
Beagle. Native food supplies for this breed would have been found in both
the areas of the north eastern part of the States. The grain crops of both
areas are wheat, oats, and barley. The meat from beef and dairy cattle,
Deer and Fowl. The Rat Terrier should eat foods that are a blend of beef,
bison, wheat bran, oats, potato, carrot, tomato and beet pulp. Avoid
feeding a Rat Terrier any processed foods, soy products, avocado, or
white rice.
