Shipping Plan Overview

• Raven will be shipped by sea in a 20-foot container.
The bench structure will be reinforced.
• Bench crate and computer crate will be set on top of a vibration damping base.
• All content will be sealed, blocked and strapped.
Should be able to handle: - 25 cm drop - 30° pitch and roll

• Container will be picked up at UVic on Dec 16th ( 3 days loading )
• Transporter: Carson (Matson) port of departure: Seattle. • Window delivery at Subaru:
January 6th-10th
Container will be in standby at Subaru for 4 days.

Personal Protective Equipment
• Raven team members and Subaru staff involved in the loading/unloading of Raven must be wearing appropriate PPE:
hard helmet
steel-toed shoes
gloves

Unloading Raven in Hilo
• Container left on a 4-feet high trailer in Hilo for 4 days
• Container content will be all on pallets
• Pallets will be moved within the container using a palette jack then unloaded from the container using a forklift.
• Once the crates are removed, the clean room must be lifted up using the crane and Raven will be rolled in position.
• The computer rack will be rolled in the clean room.
• Other small equipment will be handled manually.

Loading Raven on the BSIT truck
• Clean room lifted using crate – Raven rolled out.
• A custom frame has been designed to attach Raven to the BUSF.
• Raven will be craned to the BSIT truck and BSIT cover craned on top and secured.
• Computer rack must be repacked into its original transportation crate - transportation to summit using a regular truck.
• Other Raven’s equipment to be transported using Subaru’s SUVs.

Transportation to NIR platform
• Raven will be unloaded from BSIT truck using 80T crane.
• Two options are available to bring it to Cassegrain floor:
the bench is equipped with caster and can be rolled to the elevator
the bench can be lifted up using the 80T crane
• The computer rack will be brought to the Cassegrain floor using the elevator.
• Once at the Cassegrain floor, both the bench and computer rack will be lifted up to the NIR platform using the crane.

• The Raven bench is equipped with 4 lifting points.

• Lifting point = Lifting eye + Bracket + High-strength bolt
• Raven lifting slings will be provided by the Raven team
• Spreader will be provided by Subaru All lifting equipment are well below their respective WLL
