2 GENERAL SATETY REQUIREMENTS
2.1 Principles
The machine has been manufactured in accordance with the state of the art
and the recognized safety regulations. This, however, does not preclude
danger to life and limb for the user or others, nor does it prevent harm to the
machine and/or other property.
These safety instructions must be observed by all persons responsible for
the transport, assembly, commissioning, operation, maintenance as well as
the dismantling and disposal of the machine. We recommend that the owner
obtains a signed confirmation that the safety instructions have been read and
understood by the personnel.
The machine should only be used when it is technically serviceable. It must
be operated in compliance with the machine’s instruction manual bearing in
mind safety and possible dangers. Serviceable condition implies that the
whole working area is clean and tidy. This has to be ensured by instructionand inspection.
Make sure that all additional national laws regulations for accident
prevention and protection of the environment are complied with.
Make sure that the warnings and safety instructions at and on the machine
are complete and well legible.
Make sure that the complete technical documentation for the user of the

2.3 Personnel
Only trained and authorized personnel may be employed for operating the
machine.
The operating and maintenance personnel must always wear the necessary
protective clothing such as safety boots, tough top clothes, safety gloves and
safety helmets. As the owner of the plant, you are responsible for ensuring
that this demand is complied with by your personnel. Please ensure that all
applicable national regulations are observed.
The operations of the plant are not exposed to noise emissions of machinery
as the machines designed and supplied by SINOMA are operated form a
central control room.
The maintenance personnel is obliged to check the machinery at least once
every shift for visually detectable damage or faults. If any damage, fault or
change in the operational behaviour is detected, the dits must immediately
inform the responsible superior. If necessary, shut down the machine
immediately!
During maintenance work, cordon off the entire working area to prevent
unauthorized persons form gaining access.
Maintenance work may only be performed by trained specialists. Work on work fittings and gas consuming installations may only be
performed by specially qualified personnel.
Work on the electrical equipment of the machine may only be performed by a
qualified electrician or by authorized person under the supervision of a
qualified electrician in accordance with the electro-technical regulations.
Hydraulic equipment may only be dealt with by personnel with specific
knowledge and experience in hydraulic.
2.4 Dismantling and disposal
Ensure the safe and the environment-friendly disposal of all consumables
and process materials. You should also make sure that all respective
national regulations for the protection of the environment are complied with.
2.5 Design and meaning of warnings
The machine and operating manuals of SINOMA refer to various types of

3 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR LUBRICATION
For an optimal lubrication and a long durability of the lubricants, consider the
following instructions:
Close the containers immediately after lubricant has been extracted, Store
the containers in closed and dry rooms, Contamination of the lubricants is
thereby prevented. Ensure that the lubricants are stored, used and disposed
of in a way compatible with the environment, and observe the relevant
national environmental legislation when handling lubricants.
Observe your national legislation for industrial safety, health and fire
protection when storing and handing lubricants.
Mark the barrels and canisters according to types with different colour.
Mixing of lubricants is not permitted.
Re-lubricate at regular intervals with adequate lubricant quantities. Lack or
insufficient of lubricants can cause damage to the machine components.
For flushing, use a low-viscosity oil on the same base and from the same
manufacturer. Never mix oil on a mineral base with synthetic oil.
3.1 Gear uni t
NOTE!
For selection of the oil the viscosity indicated on the identification plate of the
gear unit is decisive.
For the quantity to be filled only the oil level measurement at the inspection
glass, at the measuring rod or at the oil overflow opening is decisive.
Change oil at the intervals prescribed by the manufacturer of the gear unit. In
addition, check the oil level continuously and possibly supplement lacking
quantities.
Scavenge the drive unit thoroughly at every oil change. The flushing oil must
be of flow viscosity. Never use petroleum for flushing gears.

When oil of the same oil type is change the residual quantities in the gear
unit must be as small as possible. Small residual quantities do as a rule not
cause difficulties. Gear oil of different types and from different manufacturers
must not be mixed. We recommend that the plant owner obtains, if necessary,
a signed confirmation that the new oil is compatible with the residuals of the
waste oil.
In case the oil type is changed from polyethylene glycol to a different gear oil
or vice versa the gear unit must always be thoroughly scavenged with the
new oil. Residual waste oil must be completely removed from the gear unit.
3.2 Oil heating
Unfavorable climate conditions may necessitate a heating up of the lubricating oil.
Take care that the heat transferred per unit surface in the oil at rest does not
exceed 0.5 to 1W/cm2. When the doubt consult the plant or lubricant supplier.
3.3 Antifr iction bearing
A lubricating grease quantity which is too great causes increased operating
temperatures especially with higher speeds.
Fill the housing of slowly running bearings which must adequately be
protected from corrosion completely with grease.
3.4 Open gear wheels
DANGER !
Open girth gear drive units or gear racks can pull in andsqueeze parts of the body.
You may suffer severe injury. Never lubricate when the machinery is operating.
Thoroughly clean open girth gear drive units or gear racks prior to the lubrication.
Apply a uniform and thin lubricating film.
3.5 Labyrinth seals
The seals are to prevent dirt from entering the bearings. Therefore always
re-lubricate until a grease collar forms before the labyrinth passages. When the

grease collar has been used up re-lubricate with fresh grease until a new grease
collar has formed.
3.6 Lubr ication pipe
Take care that the lubrication pipes to the friction points are thoroughly cleaned
inside and filled with the prescribed lubricant prior to commissioning.
3.7 Note!
The selection of the lubricants for the ref. numbers is on the responsibility of the
lubricant supplier. SINOMA is not responsible for the correctness of this data.
In the case of extremely difficult lubricating conditions and special designs, thespecial regulations of SINOMA apply. No responsibility is assumed for the use of
any other lubricants than those listed in this section unless they have been
explicitly approved by SINOMA.
Each mineral-oil company mentioned in the table of lubricants keeps a
lubrication service with engineers who, on request, are at our customers’
disposal and advise them with regard to all questions relating to suitable
lubrication.
