Fifth graders also had a big performance this past month. We held our American Heros program in the cafeteria for families on Feb. 16th. Each student dressed like their hero, gave a short speech, and sang patriotic songs. A big shout-out goes to Mrs. Adams for putting together another outstanding show!

Message from the Principal...

We had a wonderful, activity filled month at Ray Marsh! The talent show was amazing and I want to thank all of the volunteers who gave their time to make it a truly special show. The acts were great and I was amazed at some of the costumes the kids wore for their performances.

Upcoming Events

We continued to have great science enrichment activites which the kids always enjoy. I cannot thank enough the parents and volunteers that take time off of work to come and teach the projects. The enrichment program is unique in Shawnee Mission being that is completely PTA/parent sponsored and wouldn’t be possible without your support. Sixth grade did their annual celebration of Valentine’s Day at Skate City which went great. A few of the kids mastered the jackpot on one of the games and came home with a large prize from the tickets earned. It’s always fun to see the kids interact in a different setting and it was a day filled with laughter.

Our Mathletics teams brought back four trophies from Regionals. 4th grade: 1st place; 5th grade 2nd place; 6th grade 4th place; PreA 2nd place We finished the month with the big dodgeball tournament. It was a fun night as many local celebrities came out and were drafted on to teams.

It was fun to see firefighters, police officers, the mayor, and our staff compete side by side with the kids. Ultimately a 5th grade team walked off with the 1st place medals, but everybody walked away with a smile after a fun night of competing.
