I would imagine that most of you are
as tired of reading Covid-19 updates as I am
in writing this one, but this update contains a
lot of good news. Raymond Sportsman’s Club
is resuming all outdoor activities that we can
offer in a safe environment for members and
guests through safe distancing and control of
facility hy-
giene.
The
RSC Regular
Club Meeting
on June 3rd
was held out-
side in the
pavilion and
that worked
well for us. The clubhouse has been cleaned,
scrubbed and disinfected from top to bottom
and we intend to keep it that way until it be-
comes necessary to use it again. A big ‘Thank
You’ needs to be extended to Mary Kesslak,
with some help from Kim Black and Joe
Gould, who completed this sizable task. Every
member has a key that allows entry to the
clubhouse, but we ask that you keep out of it
so we can maintain its condition until it
needs to be used again.
The club have safely and successfully
pulled off our Annual Clean Up Day and held
several firearm shooting events. We recently
held a GSB 3-D Archery Shoot that drew 111
adult shooters and a handful of youth archers.
RSC was the first of over a dozen GSB clubs to
hold one of these weekly 3-D shoots since the
coronavirus pandemic was made public. Be-
cause of fairly tight spacing, the practice range
remained closed, but with Richard at the grill
and a kitchen crew in the cook shack, we were
able to offer hot dogs, burgers and drinks on a
take out basis.
Even before the Town Fair Committee
made the decision to cancel the 2020 Raymond
Town Fair, I notified them that we felt RSC
could not, in good conscience, safely operate a
bingo tent and protect members in the process.
I will communicate separately with the 30-40
members of the bingo crew and offer alternative
options to acquire hours.
Meanwhile, NH Fish & Game has
plans to introduce a new plan for hunter educa-
tion certification beginning August 1st. It calls
for abbreviated field day schedules for candi-
dates that pass the on line course instruction.
Tom Faunce has provided me with the outline
sent to the Master Instructors and I will send
that out separately from this newsletter for all
to review. You will also begin to see our local
Boy Scouts get active outdoors on club grounds,
as long as they can exercise safe distancing.
The best way to stay abreast of what is
going on at the club is to review the calendar in
each newsletter and check the club website
calendar that Harry Whitney maintains. Good
luck and stay safe.
Tim Layman
Every Raymond Sportsman’s Club member is required to satisfy an individual
work hour requirement of 12 hours during each membership year. In an effort to offer
the opportunity to complete those work hours, we will once again hold Wednesday
night work parties, which is an ideal planned work event that takes place every
Wednesday night RSC is not holding a Regular Club Meeting. Basically, that means
the 2nd, 4th and sometimes the 5th Wednesday of each month. Richard Gorman, the
Grounds Committee Chairperson, organizes and supervises each of these work par-
ties, beginning June 10th and running through mid October. The work parties start
at 5pm and run until dusk. You are welcome to participate in all or part of that block
of time. Either way, it is a very good option to satisfy your work hour requirement,
with a date and time you can schedule well in advance.

Pistol Shoot
There are a couple big improvements.to our Boy Scout bridge. The Red Maple tree that leaned against the north side of the bridge was re-
moved with the timbering skills of John Gulstrom on the Clean Up Day. On that day I mentioned to John Theriault that I could use his building skills to help me straighten all the upright supports and replace the railing the tree broke down. A week later, he sent me pictures of the
railings all finished. Thanks for your help guys!
Officers:
President: Norm: Porta-johns all pumped out on placed on quarterly schedule. Trees around parking lot cut and
Chris Savage paid $2000 to complete. Elected officers approved expense. Riding mower repaired by Pat
Boylan for $35 parts and no labor charge. Joe White out for a while w/esophageal cancer. Vehicle donut
damage reported to police. Raymond PD needs range during summer for training but no schedule yet.
Successful clean-up day, 30-35 members attended. Lots of member owned equipment supplied.
Vice President: Tim: Thanked everyone for showing up for the clean-up day and making it work amid the coronavirus

Space Town: A beagle trial is still scheduled for the end of June, but some club members are going to attend another
trial in MA to view what Covid-19 restrictions need to be complied with. Final decision made after that.
