Too many product variation between malaria RDTs

Variation are seen in:•Components (e.g. shape of cassette, number of wells, specimen transfer devices, lancets) •Procedure (e.g. specimen volume, numbers of buffer drops, reading time). •Labeling and terminology for the RDT box and device•Cassette packaging •Buffer vials •Accessories •Instructions For Use

Main objectives Obtain a reliable estimate from ACT manufacturers of the total quantity of

ACTs they expect to sell and the volume of artemisinin that they have already contracted with extractors.

Obtain a reliable estimate from artemisinin producers on the total quantity of artemisinin they expect to be available for 2014 and 2015.

Assess whether the ACT to be produced and the existing stocks will be sufficient to cover the forecasted demand in 2014 and 2015.

Participants: growers, collectors of leaves, extractors, API/ACT manufacturers, donors and organizations from China, Vietnam, East Africa, Madagascar, India and Europe.
