Orlando may be well known for its theme parks, but it does have a number of other things to see and do as well.

There are many nature parks and other outdoors areas, as well as dozens of museums, art galleries, bars and restaurants from which to choose from.

If you’ll be flying into town before the summit begins or staying a day after and will have some spare time, you may like to visit some of the following attractions, all of which can be found within a short drive.

1. Harry P. Leu Gardens: The 50--acre botanical gardens are just a few minutes away from downtown Orlando, and are home to temperate and tropical plants, flowers and trees. There is also a butterfly garden here, as well as areas of bamboo and palms. It is an excellent place to take a stroll, with guided tours available. There is also a historical home at its centre.

2. Cornell Fine Arts Museum: The Cornell Fine Arts Museum is an experience of art and culture, located on the Winter Park campus of Rollins College, housing over 6000 works. These include some Italian Renaissance pieces, as well as works by prominent American artists. The museum collection has expanded rapidly in the last few years with numerous donations of art and funding. The Senior Art Show is held each May.

3. The 2012 RBMA Summit is also a great opportunity to visit Florida’s only certified organic brewery that produces a fine range of ales. The Orlando Brewing Company offers free tours at 6pm, Monday to Saturday. There is no better way to find out about the brewing process than visiting this brewery, and it goes without saying, that the free beer tasting is an added bonus! Anyone that develops a taste for the beers might like to stay for a few more.  On the weekends there is often live original music as entertainment!

4. If you’re looking for a place to get some outdoor exercise, Lake Eola Park is a popular place to go running or simply take a walk at any time of day. The distance around the lake is 0.9 miles, and for those that would prefer to relax a little, you can rent paddle boats and feed the swans. The amphitheatre in the park also plays host to concerts and plays, and the illuminated fountain which is best seen at night is the symbol of the city.

5. Last but not least on the list of places to see is the Morse Museum: The Morse Museum is home to the most extensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany and includes pottery, paintings, jewelry and art glass among other things. Known famously for the Tiffany collection, Louis Comfort Tiffany is one of the most prolific artists and designers of the late 19th century. The museum also boasts other collections of American pottery, paintings and decorative arts. It can be found on North Park Avenue, Winter Park.
