RBS Alarms Do the Cells need to be unlocked before checking for RBS alarms ? Only faulty radio and transmission alarms will show (coz these are hardware faults TRX, TX, RX) in both locked and unlocked states. You can confirm this by using the RBS decoder program/software to understand the fault codes. This can also be found on Alex. When site is unlocked, you can also see software, transmission, and VSWR faults on top of hardware faults. You will have a fault code on the CF (ex. 0040 means TX to DXU is down or power fault on site). If its a transmission fault you will have alarms on the TF (synchronization alarm). VSWR alarms are measurement ratio. The impact of unlocking a site with VSWR alarms is of course dropped calls not only for this site but also for neighboring sites (handover). Field engrs need to do a sweep test to know why this site has VSWR. Re: RBS Alarms nowhere_girl, What you are saying is i should be able to see all hardware fault alarms, even with the cells locked.. Like faulty FU, RU, PDUs, loose cables, bad T1s, Ima group alarms (except measurements like rssi & vswr.) correct? Will TMA alarms also show up with cells locked? Re: RBS Alarms No. Only Managed Objects (MO's) defined in the BSC like CF, TF, IS, TRX, RX, TS will show alarms because TMA is not part of RBS but connected to RBS from BSC point of view. Faults on TMA can only be found by Field Engr. during on site troubleshooting.

RBS Alarms

Do the Cells need to be unlocked before checking for RBS alarms ?

Re: RBS Alarms

nowhere_girl,

What you are saying is i should be able to see all hardware fault alarms, even with the cells locked..

Like faulty FU, RU, PDUs, loose cables, bad T1s, Ima group alarms (except measurements like rssi & vswr.) correct?

Will TMA alarms also show up with cells locked?

Re: RBS Alarms

No. Only Managed Objects (MO's) defined in the BSC like CF, TF, IS, TRX, RX, TS will show alarms because TMA is not part of RBS but connected to RBS from BSC point of view. Faults on TMA can only be found by Field Engr. during on site troubleshooting.

Re: RBS Alarms

NO NEED TO UNLOCK THE CELL TO CHECK RBS ALARMS, (EXCEPT VSWR & RSSI)
