Cover Photo The 50 US Navy destroyers handed over to the RN/RCN in Halifax in 1940 under Lend-Lease was certainly one of the most important events of the Battle of the Atlantic. Pictured are HMC Ships St Croix, St Francis and Buxton. The RCN ships were named for rivers that flowed in both the USA and Canada while the RN ships were named for towns with a namesake in the USA. St Croix was the only RCN war loss with St Francis sink-ing after a collision enroute to the breakers postwar. Rest were scrapped.
