VeCtra series

Loaders

Our experience in the design, manufacturing and installation of conveying systems and hopper loaders for plastics processors is your assurance that you will be selecting the most reliable method to save time and material, while reducing costs.

We know what it takes to automatically move pellets, powders, regrinds and granulars from bulk railcars or shipping containers to storage silos and bins, then into processing hoppers.

We are committed to new technologies, we keep our designs simple and our equipment competitively priced; new ideas are not practical if processors can not afford to add them to their processing lines.

A major advantage of a Hamilton loader or loading system is the option to customize controls and control components to meet specific processor requirements. Our engineering and electronics departments are dedicated to providing exactly what our customers want, at a competitive price.

CentraL system

Loaders

Feature for feature, Vectra loaders are engineered to give you more than any other vacuum material receiver in the market. The heavy-duty carbon steel body makes Vectra loaders resistant to the toughest industrial applications. Vectra loaders are used in various configurations, as a single unit with a dedicated vacuum pump, or in a system consisting of multiple units with a centralized vacuum pump. In the centralized version, a single vacuum line connects multiple receivers to a common pump. This pump powers all receivers, one at a time in a demand sequence operated by a central vacuum controller.

Vectra loaders are modular. They can be easily expanded, retrofitted, or enhanced to meet needs of the dynamic industrial environment.

Vectra loaders are designed to offer features and quality that are superior to any other vacuum receiver on the market.

The compact SVL Venturi Loader makes it easy to provide troublefree loading wherever you need it. Using compressed air at around 70-90 PSI to create a vacuum, the SVL’s highly efficient Venturi draws material from drums, bins or gaylords. From there, the material is conveyed by compressed air Venturi to the stainless steel receiving hopper that can be mounted to virtually any vessel or machine throat.

Using a unique, low maintenance filter assembly, material is separated from the conveying air stream and deposited directly into a bin or machine throat. The wide-open Tube Loader body keeps material flowing without bridging and without a discharge valve common to other types of loaders. A demand sensor tells the SVL when to load and when it is full. Material flow is easily adjusted for throughput and conveying distance with the included air pressure regulator.SVL-120

Powder Loaders

Hamilton Vectra series Powder Loaders are specifically designed to move a wide variety of powders, resins and dusty regrinds with different particle sizes and structure. The Triax Carbonized bag type filters provide a greater air to cloth ratio inside the vacuum chamber of the loader. The pulsed air cleaning cycle purges the filter area after each load cycle with bursts of compressed air, assisted by an accumulator ensuring all powder or granular fines are removed.

Equipped with a smooth-wall interior, and a compact filter chamber, the Vectra powder loader is easy to maintain. Quick release latches and utility connections allows easy no-tools disassembly. 360° independent orientation of the base, center section and lid assembly allows complete installation flexibility. Even the filter bags can be released individually or as a subassembly. Hamilton’s unique, removable filter plate module, means filter changes are faster and cleaner than competitive designs. An oversized compressed air accumulator and special blowback provide, blasts of air through the filter bags at the end of each load cycle to virtually eliminate filter clogging. The quick disconnect lift off lid, simplifies installation and service.

Brushless motors are also available as an option, processors who wish to eliminate the routine maintenance costs associated with brush monitoring and replacement on single-phase vacuum motors can now opt for maintenance-free brushless motors

Loader ControLs

Hamilton manufactures a wide variety of loader control systems, from custom systems designed to your specifications to our line of standard controls. The Meridian is one of Hamilton’s most versatile control systems available. With a long list of standard features, this control system can meet the most demanding applications. The Meridian is no stranger to growth either: it is completely expandable up to 24 stations in blocks of eight. The expansions modules can be placed as far as a 1000 feet away from the master control.

Easy to use control requires no training. The LCD display provides on screen prompts for programming load times and other setting at each vacuum receiver.

Easy to set station priority so that machines with higher consummation will never run out of material. Priority fill is beneficial when a particular station or stations are on demand more frequently than others. Simply by identifying which station(s) requires priority the controller on demand will satisfy these station(s) prior to non priority stations.

Should a failure to convey material occur each station will attempt conveyance three times after which an audible and visual alarm will function with station identification. The audible alarm can be enabled or disabled. The control comes in a wide variety of control voltages (24 vac, 110 vac., and 220 vac.)

Pre fiLters

Hamilton Vectra Pre Filters keep your plant free of airborne dust and fines and prevent dust from fouling the vacuum pump. A central vacuum Pre Filter allows dust filtration to take place at the floor level. An air-tight collection container makes the removal of fines quick and easy. Automatic filter cleaning is standard, lengthening the time between service requirements. VFLC and VFHC models use an integrated "vacuum valve" to remove dust from the filter, while the VFLS and the VFHS has a sophisticated sequential blowback system. The integrated dust canister releases easily for periodic emptying. Quick release clamps opens the lid for quick access to the filter cartridge. Each model comes equipped with a free standing floor frame.

Models are sized to provide the right amount of filter area for the pump CFM and line size of the conveying system. The pulsed air pre filter provides four filters with an automatic blowback system for maximum filter life. Larger units are available, please consult the factory on your requirements.

Dust-laden vacuum air enters the collector, where the spinning air stream separates most of the dust. The oversized filter traps the remaining dust and collects the excess in the integrated canister. The valve closes at the end of the conveying sequence, rapidly changing the air pressure. This shocks the filter clean and allows fines to drop into the collection canister.

An air deflector at the inlet separates most of the dust from air upon entry. Four filter cartridges collect the rest. A purging cycle uses accumulated compressed air to blast each cartridge clean from the inside out. This sequence drops fines into the collection canister. The pulse air provides maximum filter life between manual cleaning.

Spectra eliminates off-machine tumble mixing, spillage, waste and pre-mixed inventories and provides an economical, reliable method to custom blend materials just before they are processed.

A variable-speed, D.C. motor powers a selected metering auger that volumetrically feeds colorants or additives upon a signal from either the injection or blow molding machine cycle, or in conjunction with extruder speed.

Dosing powders is one of the most difficult challenges in the field of dosing. Especially when we talk about non-free-flowing powders at extreme low rates. Expensive powder additives with high impact to your process require the best in the field of accuracy and reliability.

Movacolor has, based on its proven gravimetric technology, developed a compact powder dosing unit to do just that. The unit can dose as low as 100 grams per hour, but at the same time up to 40 kg/hr. Double spiral or auger and hopper agitation ensures a trouble free dosing of the most difficult powders.

The unit operates as a single unit, but can also be integrated in our unique modular continuous blending system. A special hopper loader frame allows a wide variety of hopper loaders or screw conveyors to be installed. Operation of the loaders is integrated in our 8" full color touch screen control.

PneumatiC tiLter

The Hamilton Pneumatic Ground Entry Gaylord Tilter is designed to assist in the vacuum unloading of gaylord containers. The automatic tilting feature allows complete removal of material from the container with little or no assistance from your operator.

The adjustable regulator permits setting initial lift at any desired weight. This unit will lift 1000Lb with only 100 psi. air pressure! Normal operation is to begin tilting action when the box is around half empty. Hamilton Tilt Tables are durable and easy to maintain. We use heavy duty pillow block bearings to ensure smooth controlled pivoting. Our seven gauge top deck is reinforced with structural steel to make it durable enough to withstand years of abuse.

These units will reduce labor cost by freeing your operator from tending his raw material flow. They also reduce material waste with the effortless, complete emptying of your container.

The STM series standard oil heaters are used to heat up the mould and maintain this temperature, although they can be used in other similar applications. High temperature oil from the mould is returned to the cooling tank and cooled by indirect cooling. It is then pressurised by the high-pressure pump, sent to the heating tank and finally to the mould with a constant temperature.

With our optimised design, oil can reach a maximum of 200°C and the OMRON temperature controller can maintain an accuracy of +/- 1°C.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

High temperature oil from the mould (D) is returned back to the cooling tank, and then sent to the heating tank by the pump (F) to be heated by the pipe heater (H), and then onto the mould.

In this process, any oil overheating activates the solenoid valve (E) to allow cooling water into the cooling tank (G) to reduce the oil temperature. If the oil reaches the upper limit of the temperature sensor, the machine will activate the overheat alarm. If the floating ball (P) in the oil tank (I) falls below a safe level, the machine will activate the low level alarm by means of a microswitch (N).
