STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING is a consultancy firm founded in Santiago, Chile in2001. The firm is managed by Raul Campos Q., Structural Engineer and Msc. Seismic Engineering at the University of Chile. (C)
With 12 years of experience, the firm provides the managing and design of structural projects in areas such as: road infrastructure, industry, mining, and energy. We can give consultancy from the conceptual stage to the construction stage.
One of the main areas developed has been the road infrastructure. So far, we have designed over 150.000 m2 of bridge deck equivalent to 40.000 linear meters. The associated investment has been over 215 million dollars, which included over 10 major viaducts and railways, and some of them were designed with seismic isolation. Our main goal is to promote and develop “joint less” bridges typology.
Our design philosophy has been the constant learning about the latest technologies in seismic protection of structures, which has allowed us to provide safe and reliable infrastructure to the community.
The firm provides stable support by 3 structural engineers, 3 structural designers, human resource and management. We have created a partners network, which allows us to provide consulting in areas such as: geotechnical, geomechanics, hydrology, road design, architecture, instrumentation, virtual modeling (render), and virtual animation (video)

INGENIERIA ESTRUCTURAL es una empresa de Consultoria en Ingenieria Estructural, fundada en Santiago de Chile en el año 2001. la empresa se encuentra liderada por Raul Campos Q., Ingeniero Civil Estructural y MSC. de
la Universidad de Chile (E).
Con 12 años de experiencia, la empresa ofrece la gestion y desarrollo de proyectos de ingenieria estructural en diversas areas tales como: infraestructura vial, industria, mineria y energia. lo anterior abarca desde analisis conceptuales hasta la asesoria durante la etapa de construccion.
Una de las areas mas destacadas corresponde a infraestructura vial, en la cual hemos proyectado a la fecha mas de 150.000 m2 de puentes, equivalentes a mas de 40.000 metros lineales, y que ha implicado una inversion superior a los 215 millones de dolares. lo anterior incluye el diseño de 10 viaductos carreteros y de metro, algunos de los cuales incorporan aislacion y/o proteccion sismica. nuestra linea de trabajo en materias de infraestructura vial, es promover el uso y desarrollo de la tipologia de puentes sin juntas o “jointless” bridges.

This structure located over Costanera highway and Vespucio Avenue in Santiago, Chile, is 387 m long. Its deck is made of prestressed girders, steel box girders and lightened slab. This structure withstood a strong earthquake measuring 8.8 on February 27, 2010, with no damages whatsoever.

Esta estructura emplazada sobre Costanera Norte y Americo Vespucio, posee una longitud de 387 m. El tablero lo conforman vigas pretensadas, vigas metálicas cajón y losas aligeradas. Esta estructura fue sometida al violento sismo del 27 de Febrero de 2010, magnitud 8.8 (mw), sin presentar daños.

Esta estructura, parte de la unidad de coker fue dañada durante el terremoto de 2010, la cual estuvo a punto de colapsar. Para establecer las reparaciones requeridas fue necesario llevar a cabo análisis dinámicos que permitieran a la estructura resistir sin daño un terremoto similar al ocurrido. La estructura llamada “Derrick”, posee una altura de 72 m, y se encuentra soportada por una estructura de 23 m de alto, con un total de 95 m sobre el terreno.
This structure is part of the coker unit, it was damaged by the 8.8 magnitude earhtquake in 2010, being very near to collapse. It was necessary to performance a complete dynamic analysis to set the reinformcement requeride to resist an earthquake like in 2010. the Derrick structure has 72 m high and is supported by another structure of about 23 m height above ground, namely, 95 m high.

Currently, this structure is the highest urban bridge in Chile. The main girders were placed by launch girders. Its performance at the 8.8 magnitude earthquake in 2010 was without any damage whatsoever.

El Viaducto el Bosque de Santiago, corresponde a la estructura vial urbana mas alta de Chile. Las vigas pretensadas del tablero fueron montadas mediante viga lanzadora (freyssinet). Esta estructura fue sometida al violento sismo del 27 de Febrero de 2010, magnitud 8.8 (mw), sin sufrir daños.

This structure has a particular geometry (''Y” shape), being the first concessioned bridge with seismic insolation and the second one in Chile, to also include seismic isolation expansion joints (swivel-joist type). Its seismic performance at the 8.8 Magnitude earthquake in 2010 was without any damage whatsoever.

The bridge deck was made of concrete slab supported on 4 prestressed girders. The Piers were made by a huge table support over a 2.5 m circular Hollow column. Its seismic performance at the 8.8 magnitude earthquake in 2010 was without any damage whatsover.
El tablero se estructura con lasa de hormigón apoyada sobre 4 vigas pretensadas. Las cepas se conforman por un gran dintel apoyado sobre columna hueca circular de 2.5 m de diámetro. Esta estructura fue sometida al violento sismo del 27 de febrero de 2010, magnitud 8.8 (Mw), sin presentar daños.

El Viaducto Cartagena, ubicado en la ruta costera que une Algarrobo y Cartagena, incorpora en su tablero las vigas pretensadas de mayor canto fabricadas en Chile (2.5 m). Posee una altura máxima 54.3 m y una longitud continua de 236.5 m. Esta estructura fue sometida al violento sismo del 27 de febrero de 2010, magnitud 8.8 (mw).

The Centenary bridge, located above the Mapocho river in Santiago, was widened to incorporate a fourth traffic lane over the lateral cantilevers. To give enough resistance to those cantilevers, they were reinforced with FRP technique. Because of this Reinforcement, the INTERNATIONAL CONCRETE REPAIR INSTITUTE gave us the award of merit at the transportation category in 2009.

El Puente Centenario, ubicado sobre el rio Mapocho en Santiago, fue ampliado de 3 a 4 pistas con el objetivo de aumentar su capacidad de tránsito. Esta ampliación implicó remover los pasillos laterales sobre los voladizos, y realizar su refuerzo mediante bandas de fibra de carbono, constituyendo la aplicación más relevante en este tipo de tecnologias. El año 2009, el instituto de reparaciones de EEUU (ICRI), otorgó el premio al merito a este novedoso proyecto.

This Under Pass, it is a Semi Integral bridge type, with no joint. During the 8.8 magnitude earthquake in 2010, the access embankments and the footbridge next to the bridge were collapsed. However, the bridge was in service all the time without structural damage whatsoever.

Este Paso Superior, posee la tipología Semi integral, sin juntas de dilatación. Durante el Terremoto de 2010, los terraplenes de acceso, así como la pasarela adyacente colapsaron; sin embargo, el puente resistió sin daños estructurales, permaneciendo en todo momento operativo.
