Reference selection was not based on exclusive use of R&D Systems products or scientific merit. Rather, references were selected randomly or based on the use of unique sample types or applications that have not been validated by R&D Systems.
R&D Systems NEUROSCIENCE REFERENCE GUIDER&D Systems offers an array of tools to study many aspects of nervous system function ranging from developmental processes such as axon guidance and pattern formation to mechanisms underlying the aging process and neurodegenerative disease. Our product lines include high quality antibodies, proteins, assay kits, and cell culture reagents to enable a range of experimental applications for a variety of sample preparations.
We know that you rely on primary literature to aid in the selection of reagents for your neuroscience research. R&D Systems maintains a reference database that contains published peer-reviewed scientific journal articles citing the use of our products. Many of these studies incorporate unique sample types or applications, demonstrating the broad scope and specificity of R&D Systems reagents. We have thousands of references in this database and more are added monthly.
The Neuroscience Reference Guide highlights a portion of our database specifically devoted to neuroscience-related experimental studies. Within each research area, this guide presents our products in alphabetical order by analyte accompanied by selected references from our database and the sample type(s) tested within each reference. If you do not see a reference for your analyte or application, please contact Technical Service @ (800) 343-7475. We would be happy to check if there is an applicable reference for your needs.
It is our hope that this guide serves as a resource as you engage in your nervous system discoveries.

Primary Rat Cortical Stem Cells. Ex vivo expanded neural stem cells serve as excellent tools for researchers studying neural development and neurological disorders. R&D Systems now offers ready-to-use primary cortical stem cells isolated from E14.5 Sprague-Dawley rats. Every lot of R&DSystemsRatCorticalStemCells (Catalog # NSC001) exhibits a high level of nestin expression and has the capacity for multi-lineage differen-tiation (astrocytes, neurons, and oligodendrocytes). Our rigorous testing procedures ensure the highest level of quality and consistency from lot to lot. Depending on your research needs, our Rat Cortical Stem Cells can be optimally expanded as monolayers or neurospheres.

The Human (Catalog # SC011) and Mouse/Rat (Catalog # SC013) Neural Stem Cell Functional Identification Kits contain specially formulated media supplements that can be used for the short-term maintenance and expansion of NSCs, and the differentiation of NSCs into astrocyte, neuron, and oligodendrocyte lineages. Also included is an antibody panel consisting of anti-Nestin, anti-Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP), anti-Neuron-specific b-III Tubulin, and anti-Oligodendrocyte Marker O4 to identify neural precursors, astrocytes, neurons, and oligo-dendrocytes, respectively.

Cells were stained with a Rhodamine Red-conjugated secondary antibody and counterstained with Fluoro Nissl Green. Distinct cell populations were identified in differ-entiated neural stem cells: Neurons were labeled detected using mouse anti-neuron- specific b-III Tubulin monoclonal antibody (Figure 2A; red). Astrocytes were labeled using mouse anti-human GFAP polyclonal antibody (Figure 2A; green). Oligodendrocytes were identified using mouse anti-Oligodendrocyte Marker O4 monoclonal antibody (Fig-ure 2B). All primary antibodies are included in the Mouse/Rat Neural Stem Cell Functional Identification Kit (Catalog # SC011).

Kinases are integral parts of signal transduction cascades that regulate virtually all cellular activities. Therefore, it is of critical importance to have quality tools that make it easy to study kinase activity. R&D Systems Proteome Profiler Antibody Arrays are screening tools designed to detect the phosphorylation of multiple different proteins in a single sample. Our Phospho-MAPK Antibody Array (Catalog # ARY002) allows for the simultaneous detection of the relative phosphorylation of 18 different serine/threonine kinases and avoids time-consuming IP/Western blots. Each human Phospho-MAPK Antibody Array Kit contains buffers, detection antibodies, streptavidin-HRP, and 4 membranes spotted in duplicate with carefully selected, highly specific capture antibodies.
