RDC was formed in 1991. Through continual growth, RDC has a long and successful history in delivering Asset Recovery Services to large private and public sector organisations. RDC currently manages over 2 million items per annum and is the largest provider of Asset Recovery Services in Europe.

RDC provides an efficient, flexible and cost effective way to manage the logistical and technical aspects of the redistribution of IT and mobile/smart phone technology assets, with the knowledge that all data and environmental issues meet the strictest UK/EU legislation and that the integrity of data is maintained. Data Security

The RDC Difference

We understand how imperative data security is. RDC’s data security processes form part of the certification to the international information security systems management standard, ISO 27001 and also the international quality assurance standard, BS EN ISO 9001.

RDC’s processes and site are approved by HMG Security Services to handle, store and eradicate protectively marked data. Data can be eradicated and certificated using a CESG IAS5 approved product, and a higher level CESG approved 3 x wipe can be used where requested. We are able to handle up to and including ‘Secret‘ data at our site in Essex. RDC is also able to offer on-site data erasure solutions to meet the requirements of customers holding data classified as up to and including ‘Top Secret’ – solutions include data wiping, degaussing, and shredding using CPNI approved equipment.

Our highly secure processing facility gives you peace of mind that your data is safe – with palisade fencing surrounding the entire site, full HD CCTV cameras, a sophisticated alarm system, employee ID card access, and all staff vetted to ‘Baseline’ level, with the majority vetted to ‘SC’ level.

RDC ensures its partners work to similar high standards of security with local equivalents of the above security levels when working outside of the UK.

Full transparency

We ensure that all equipment that cannot be reused in its original form is recycled with zero landfill. You can rest assured that you are fully compliant with the WEEE directive and all other waste regulations. This high level of compliance has been recognised by our peers, with RDC winning the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management Recycler of the Year Award, the ACEs Award and The Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development.

RDC manages the recycling of non-reusable IT equipment and packaging in compliance with the waste hierarchy obligations detailed within the Waste Management Regulations 2011, working with customers to demonstrate legal compliance by:

• Reduction of waste by repair and redeployment of used equipment• Re-use by resale of equipment• Recycling of non-reusable equipment• Recovery of waste-to-energy • Disposal as a last resort – RDC has reported zero disposal to landfill or incineration since 2010

RDC holds an environmental permit/waste management licence that demonstrates compliance as an Approved Treatment Facility (ATF) with the UK WEEE Regulations 2006 and related waste management regulations covering IT media, packaging and office waste.

Recycling processes are carried out in accordance with RDC’s Environmental Management System certificated to the International Environmental Management System Standard, BS EN ISO 14001:2004. RDC ensures that your Duty of Care obligations are met, in full compliance with all current legislation.

As well as this, RDC’s processes are certified to PAS 141:2011, the British standard for reuse of used and waste electrical and electronic equipment (UEEE & WEEE).

RDC dismantles and reclaims components and materials, separates waste materials, recycles using appropriately licensed specialists, maintains item records within our sophisticated Asset Management System, and provides environmental reporting including mass balance summaries, which detail material reclaimed from recycled equipment.
