    Structure & Content

The programme is designed to provide an opportunity or students to obtain

a DBA by means o independent study supported by online distance learning

    resources and academic support.

The DBA programme orms two stages o research. The rst stage ollows

rigorous development o a students investigative, research and planning

skills through refective practice, research methods and design - ully

preparing them or successul completion o the second stage an

independent piece o research contributing to development o management

    knowledge and practice.

    Detailed Programme Structure

Research Stage 1Reective Practice (60 credits)

This module ocuses on two key areas. Firstly, management students are

notoriously poor at sel-refection as a consideration o MBA dissertations

will signiy. Requiring students to go through a process o sel-refection will

inorm them about their strengths and weaknesses and learning preerences

and so aid them in the eventual thesis development. This process will

enhance the sel-awareness and thereore, it is anticipated, the managerial

eectiveness o the candidate with a strong refective ethos. Secondly,

consultancy skills. The ability to make a consultancy type intervention is an

important one or managers and it is likely that as part o the research that

such an event would be called or. Developing and applying those sk ills

would be useul both in their own terms but also as part o the research

    training eort.

Students will thereore evaluate themselves against current and potential

roles and design and implement an action to plan to address key

development needs within the context o the design and delivery o a

consultancy project intervention. Students will be required to undertake

a consultancy project which should have some change management

    implications or the organisation.
