CRESPAI has been formed with the aim of:- bringing together the Renewable Energy Service
Providers (RESPs), Industries and other stakeholders.- representing as an industry body for promoting the
goal and mission of the Government’s RenewableEnergy Policy .
- facilitating the development of RESP through publicawareness.
- serving as an R &D center in the sector. CRESPAI is committed to work in propagation, promotionand advocating for development of clean energy. We aimto make India an ideal destination for investment into therenewable energy.
WHO ARE WE ?

organised, and made accessible in a usable format
All-inclusive cooperation where stakeholders can make a positive contribution to the common goals.
Status & Opportunities of Renewable Energy sector In India
The Make in India Drive
o Special Emphasis has been given to the sector.o Thrust is to domestic manufacture, Duty
exemption to reduce costo As such Imports is dissuaded, Anti-dumping on
cheap imports from China.o Additional SEZ are in pipeline.o Tax exemption on 80JJA, 80IA (under Income Tax
Act, 1961)
What is holding RE back ?ü The absence of a comprehensive and coherent
national framework for RE in either legislation orpolicy .
ü The absence of a long-term vision as well as policy-certainty is holding back much-needed investment ininfrastructure and RE generation .
ü Policies that does exist is limited by weakenforcement or low ambition, poor design oruncertainty.
ü Poor cost capturing for Conventional electricity, is itreally cheap if the, given the environment restorationcost ?
ü Not just law but enforcement and governance key.
Systematic Flaw (What is Holding Back)
• Strong will power needs reflection in action. The Renewable Energy Act
is a bare minimum in the direction.
• CSR is only in Directors report. No mechanism to evaluation and analysis.
• Easy Benefits Transfer mechanism (Conflicting , ambiguity in policies
needs to be removed)
qBenefits of Excise Duty under 12.2012 CE available to CVD. No
corresponding Customs circular/ notification
q Listed items indicative or exhaustive.
qComponents covered, raw material covered whether intermediary?
qWhy not Zero rated in line of exports incentives?
Core Principles for Over coming Barriers to RE
1. Treat RE as a resource of national and strategic importance.
2. Mandate RE as a significant component of the power sector.
3. Take an integrated approach to power sector planning, including generation, transmission, and distribution
4. Encourage investments in RE Sector 5. Give small-scale/distributed RE, close to end-users,
priority equal to large-scale/centralized RE
Future Plans & Road Maps - GOI
ü The Renewable Energy Act 2015 drafted and available for comments.ü Integration of Power, Coal and MNRE is a green
step of kind. Emphasis is on synchronization. Minimum Government Maximum Governance is the call of the hour
Challenges
Toreduceper unitcost ofrenewableenergy.
Increaseefficiency
Harnesslowerwindspeeds
Challenge theenergyof tidesandwaves toproduceenergy
Use oflargergridswithlowerlosses ofelectricity
Use ofhydrogen as anenergystorageorcarrier
CHALLENGES:
Limitations /constraints being faced
- Both the industry and the Government faceslimitations/ constraints while developing orgenerating or extracting the RE.
- Hence there is a need of a common agency toovercome all the challenges that come across.
- Every stakeholders should come forward atstrategy level.
Government Incentives & Benefits

qadd 78700MW during 11th & 94431MW during the 12th five year plan.qImprove the performance and efficiency of coal
based thermal plants.qSave fuel and reduce environmental impacts.
Good News……• From barely 20 MW in 2011, India’s installed solar
capacity has increased to 7805 MW as on31.07.2016.
• India has vast untapped renewable energy resources- wind energy has installed capacity of 27.15 GW andan estimated potential of nearly 103 GW at 80meter hub height and nearly 300 GW at 100 meterhub height.
• Bio-power (including biomass and bagasse co-generation) has an installed capacity of nearly 5 GWas opposed to an estimated potential of 22.5 GW.
Good News……• Solar power has installed capacity of 7.8 GW with
the potential of 748 GW.
• The Solar Policy of Rajasthan notified in 2011envisages the setting up of solar manufacturingfacilities at proposed solar parks.
• The Gujarat Solar Park also makes special provisionsfor encouraging on-site manufacturing facilities toprovide equipment to projects coming up within thepark as well as adequate repairs, maintenance andskilled manpower to service projects within the park.
Good News……• DAL ENERGY Gulf of Kutch Tidal power plant is
strongly pushed for construction by the westernGujrat at the Gulf of cambay.
• India has a good potential for tidal power generationin sundarbans, WB.
• The country’s 1st tidal plant has been proposed tobe set up in Durgaduani creek of sundarbans.
• Govt. targeting to electrify 18,000 villages in 1,000days. RE has its share of joy in the mission.
Summary & Conclusions
- Not just Government but you and metogether we can make difference.
- No growth is bigger than market. Thebigger market is the environment andlife. Without it rest meaningless.
- Environmental care is biggestcontribution
- Corporate and community to cometogether and work hand in hand.
