    SUMMARY OF THE STORY

     The story of Beowulf fro! "eatland# ta$%les a&out the l'fe of a

    le(endary e)'$ hero who ha*e en$ountered and sla'n fero$'ous !onsters. The e)'$ &e(an when the !onster na!ed "rendel, atta$%ed the hall wherethe towns)eo)le+Danes $ele&rates due to the'r *'$tory o*er a &attle. Afterthat 'n$'dent the 'n( -roth(ar %'n( of Danes# s)read news to d'erent)la$es, that whoe*er $an %'ll the !onster "rendel w'll &e ('*en a (reatreward. To !a%e the story short Beowulf heard the news, went stra'(ht toDanes and %'lled the !onster, "rendel, w'th h's &are hands.After the %'n( d'ed, the !'(hty Beowulf ta%e o*er the throne. -e ruled the%'n(do! )ea$efully. But the seren'ty of the $ountry was d'stur&ed &y ah'deous and )owerful !onster, a dra(on, who &e$a!e Beowulf/s son &eforeBeowulf &e$o!e the %'n( he lay w'th "rendel/s !other, wh'$h $auses her to

    &ore a son#. The two fou(ht 'n deadly $o!&at, unt'l 't ends w'th death, not only thedra(on d'ed &ut also the !'(hty Beowulf.

    AS A HERO AND AS A KING:

     There 's no dou&t that Beowulf was 'ndeed a true hero, no !atter howhard a &attle or (ht 't !ay &e, he ne*er fa'ls to w'n *'$tor'ously. -e 's a hero)ossess'n( un$o!!on stren(th. After I/*e wat$hed the !o*'e /Beowulf//,I/*e seen that he was only a !an !an'fest'n( a stron( &ody &ut not a stron(heart, he $an eas'ly &e de$e'*ed &y the th'n(s 'n th's world, es)e$'ally &y thedes'res of the esh. As a %'n( he 's a (ood %'n( &e$ause he had ruled h's

    %'n(do! w'th har!ony, &ut I lose !y ad!'rat'on to h'! when I/*e found outthat all throu(hout the years of h'! as a %'n(, the )ea$e 'n the %'n(do! was 3ust one of the a(ree!ent he and "rendel/s !other ha*e !ade a son forr'$hes and )ea$e of the %'n(do!#.

    AS A MAN:

    Althou(h Beowulf was a !an )ossess'n( etraord'nary stren(th, he/sst'll a !an, and a !an w'll always &e a !an, 't has wea%nesses and I a(reew'th that,3ust l'%e when he $an5t res'st "rendel/s !other when she sedu$edh'!. Also when he d'dn/t told the whole truth a&out what ha))ened to h'!dur'n( the sw'!!'n( ra$e, he stated to the )eo)le that he had %'lled a

    !onster !er!a'd# &y sta&&'n( a da((er to 'ts $hest yet 't d'dn/t ha))en.L'%ew'se he also l'ed when he %'lled "rendel/s !other. 6an $on$eals, tells l'es%ee)s the'r dar%est s'de 3ust l'%e Beowulf.
