Reading
Every teacher is a teacher of reading!
Year 7
• Have fortnightly IL lessons within English
• will have their ATR assessed • reading will be mapped and
tracked over the year• targets given & shared with
tutor /parent (T3/4)
Year 8
• have fortnightly IL lessons within English
• their ATR data from the end of year 7 will be shared with tutors.
Year 9
• Have fortnightly ‘Browse and Borrow’ sessions (15 mins) via
English• have a Genre focussed session
once a term in English
DEAR(not SDASU!)
• Fridays Week B (Big Friday)•new version every fortnight•Bank of books & activities•space for a quick burst of
reading everyday. (5-10 minutes) in daily i-connect
• Tutor Group invitations
MRC Services
• Sample lesson ideas to embed literacy and reading for pleasure across the curriculum (Ofsted)• Resource Boxes to support topics available on request
• Reading lists – linking fiction to curriculum topics
Parents
• New ‘Reading Station’ available at most parents evenings offering a ‘drop in’ service - but tutors can direct
• Reading Workshop • Reading for Pleasure plans (Yr 7)
