As a Parish and as a School,we

are praying for theSeminariansof the Archdiocese of Omaha. Every two weeks wewill feature a young man who is discerning avocation to the priesthood. Please join us in praying:God our Father, You made each of us to receive ourgifts in the Body of Christ. We ask that You inspireyoung people whom You call to the priesthood andconsecrated life to courageously follow Your will.Send workers into Your great harvest so that theGospel is preached, the poor areserved with love, the suffering are comforted, andYour people are strengthened by the Sacraments.

TRAVELING CHALICE AND CROSS PROGRAMThe purpose of the Chalice and CrossProgram is to encourage families topray and promote all vocations, butespecially vocations to the Priesthoodand Religious Life. The consecratedChalice is a tangible reminder of thisspecial intention for the Church. TheSecond Vatican Council highlights theresponsibility of the laity to pray for and supportvocations. This urgent call has been stronglyaffirmed in the writings and addresses of both PopeJohn Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI.Praying for vocations is the most powerful way tosupport vocations. A vocation is a call from theHoly Spirit, a gift from God that is nurtured in prayer. When we pray for vocations, we lift up to our Fatherthose men and women whom He is calling to followHim in a very special way. We hope that those whobring the cup and cross home will continue to praydaily for vocations. This week, the Tracy and Theresa Bahle Family willbe taking home the Traveling Chalice and Cross. The Smedra Family will be taking it home nextweekend. Please let us know if you are interestedin the opportunity to take the Traveling Chalicehome, please sign up in the binder on the table bythe Mary statue.

CHRISTIAN HUMOR A preacher visits an elderly womanfrom his congregation. As he sits on the couch, he notices alarge bowl of peanuts on the coffee table. "Mind if I havea few?" he asks. "No, not at all!" the woman replied. They chat for an hour and as the preacher stands toleave, he realizes that instead of eating just a fewpeanuts, he emptied most of the bowl. "I'm terribly sorryfor eating all your peanuts, I really just meant to eat afew." "Oh, that's all right," the woman says. "Ever since Ilost my teeth all I can do is suck the chocolate off them."

We desperately need the season of Lent. Have you everfound yourself running in all directions, tired, frustrated, and frazzled and yearning for the moment when you canstop, find some time for reflection and prayer, and getyour head straight? Life pulls us in all directions. On top ofthat, the presence of sin in our lives gives us blurry visionand makes us forget who we really are. We can easilylose touch with God. Lent gives us the opportunity toreturn to simpler times and clear away some of life’sclutter. We can change up our routines a bit and realizethat Jesus is the one who can set us right with God andrestore what was originally meant to be. Our task is toavoid the temptations that can weigh us down, distract us,and distort our vision. Are you aware of what things inyour life do this to you? Over the next few weeks, youhave an opportunity to avoid them.

J OIN US FOR STATIONS OF THE CROSS EACH FRIDAY DURING LENTat 6:30 p.m. We will have stations at 6:30 followed by ameatless potluck. Please bring your favorite meatless dishto share.
