PASTOR’S corner

Please pray for the success of SPRINGFEST. But remember, pray as if it all depends on God and work as if it all depends on you!

THANKS to all who donated to our “Memorial Fund Drive”. Due to your generosity our general fund received a much needed boost. Remember, the Building Fund is used to make the monthly payment on the new rectory and for ongoing maintenance and repairs. The Wednesday evening Mass will be changed to 8:00 AM during the summer months. It will return to 6:00 PM when Faith Formation resumes in the fall. This change will take effect this Wednesday, May 3. There will be no Wednesday evening confessions during the summer, either. Congratulations to Doug and Jessica Blanchard on the birth of their son, Jacob Noah. Also, best wishes to Andrew and Jana Brasfield on the arrival of their daughter Caleigh Dawn. Babies are God’s way of letting us know that He wants the world to continue on for a while longer! A big THANKS to all who helped to make the Cemetery work day a great success. Your generous donations and hard work paid off as the Fraternal Cemetery looks great. Please plan on attending out Parish Mission: Monday, May 22, Tuesday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 24 at 7:00 PM. More information to follow in the bulletin. For now, check out the posters on the bulletin boards. For you internet surfers, try www.jesusdecoded.com to drop the bomb on the ridiculous claims of the DaVinci Code.

3rd SUNDAY OF EASTER Jesus opened the minds of his followers to understanding of scripture. He pronounced them as his witnesses. Be the hands and feet of Jesus today. (Luke 24:35-48) Let us pray for our Church leaders that they may be witnesses to the prace of Christ. (Vocation View sponsored by the Serra Club)

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL 10567 Fraternal Cemetery Work Day a Huge Success - Some 64 men and women worked all day on Saturday, April 22 with lawn mowers, weedeaters, chain saws and heavy equipment to clear away much of the brush and trees that were covering many of the monuments in the Fraternal Cemetery in Pratt City. "The cemetery is huge and we didn't get everything," said Grand Knight Louis J. Muro. "But it is remarkable what we were able to accomplish in one day. The men in our Council and the people at St. Patrick never cease to amaze me. On behalf of the Knights, I would like to thank everyone who participated in the work day. I want to thank everyone who worked and all those who gave monetary donations. We used the donations to rent equipment and to provide lunch for the workers. Without your donations we would not have been able to have this work day at all. We also want to thank Barbara Rucker and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary for preparing the lunch for the workers and for delivering it to the cemetery. But, above all, we all owe a debt of gratitude to Don Meadows, Gaeton Conte and Rob Smith who spent countless hours organizing, planning and executing the plan for the work day. It was an impressive plan and it worked to perfection. This was a difficult project but Don, Gaeton and Rob showed great leadership through it all." WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS IS SUNDAY, MAY 7 - The annual World Day of Prayer for Vocations will be held on Sunday, May 7. Annually on the Fourth Sunday of Easter, the Holy Father challenges all the faithful to gather in prayer for vocations. For more information on how you can help a seminarian or get involved in the effort to promote vocations, contact Phil Slovensky or Gaeton Conte.

Please submit your name to Don Meadows, the Church office or to any Knight of Columbus. Please let us know as soon as possible for planning purposes.
