Key documents 1990-2010
The Fifth Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health in Parma, Italy, 10-
12 March 2010, marks the 20 years since the start of the European process onenvironment and health. This process began in 1989 in Frankfurt with the FirstMinisterial Conference on Environment and Health, which inter alia established
the WHO European Centre for Environment and Health.
This memory stick, prepared on the occasion of the Parma Conference, holds acomprehensive collection of selected technical, policy, legal, press and advocacydocuments produced since the launch of the process in 1989. These documents
are mostly produced directly by WHO/Europe and its environment and healthprogrammes.
Main publications resulting from collaboration with WHO headquarters – both ascontributions to global publications and as translation into official languages for
the European Region (mostly Russian) – and other partnership activities are also
included.
The selection has been made allowing consideration of currently relevant
documents as well as of important ones which might be no longer scientificallyup-to-date, but still document the work done by WHO/Europe across the 20
years of the process.
