I am honored and look forward to serving as President of the East Florida Chapter in 2015 Over the years I have really enjoyed my service to the East Florida Chapter and I treasure the many relationships that have been formed along the way I have always tried to convey to as many students affiliate members and candidates as possible how much the Appraisal Institute has shaped my career The relationships I have formed with other Appraisal Institute members have directly impacted every job opportunity made available to me over the past 20 years In addition the Appraisal Institute has also provided me with unique professional opportunities to do things such as lobby congress members on pending real estate legislation in Washington DC (LDAC) and to be selected to the Real Estate Advisory Council at the University of Central Florida Without my Appraisal Institute membership and involvement these opportunities would not have been possible The Appraisal Institute has had a significant impact on my career and I continue to tell othershellip it can do the same for you if you just get involved With that said I am truly proud to be a member of this organization and to serve as your President in 2015 I want to personally thank the outgoing officers and directors that served the Chapter in 2014 as I feel we have a solid foundation to build upon I want to personally thank the Past President Nicholas Pilz MAI SRA AI-RRS for not only his leadership to the East Florida Chapter over these past four years but also to his contributions to Region X and National I believe Nick has set a great example for others to follow and I appreciate all that he has done for our membership We are coming off a tremendous year in 2014 with a record number of new designations an outstanding Central Florida Real Estate Valuation Forum and the Chapterrsquos revenues exceeded expenses I know the 2015 officers and directors are excited to try and match these impressive accomplishments while also finding new ways to improve our Chapter A few issues that I would personally like to address this year are our expanding our relationship with not only the University of Central Florida (UCF) real estate program but also with the other universities in Florida that offer real estate degree programs We have made pretty significant accomplishments in expanding the University Relations program over the past several years and there will be more opportunities coming in 2015 and beyond If you are interested in joining the University Relations Committee please contact me as there are a number of ways to contribute This year we are having two meetings that will give our membership an opportunity to invite their spouse significant other or entire family In November we had a Friday night dinner meeting at the Country Club of Orlando in which spouses were encouraged to attend The dinner included a cash bar and live band (Folk University) which was led by Michael Twitty MAI We also had a guest appearance by James Cooksey MAI on several songs The band played a wide range of rock-n-roll classics from the 1960rsquos to the 2000rsquos well into the evening There were many positive comments regarding this type of social dinner meeting where spouses are encouraged to attend While the details have not been finalized for the August meeting we are planning for another dinner meeting We are currently considering a couple hotel options in the Orlando tourist corridor This will give the membership an opportunity to stay overnight (if desired) and hang out with the family the following day at the pool hot tub spa fitness center etc If anyone from the membership has any comments or suggestions for the Chapter please feel to contact me at ryanzinkcap-valcom or 407-781-0233

New Designation Education Pricing Policy for Practicing Affiliates At their November meeting the Board of Directors approved a new policy for designation education pricing for Practicing Affiliates Currently Practicing Affiliates pay full price to take designation education courses Effective January 1 2015 non-state certified Practicing Affiliates who would like to take and pass a designation education courseexam to satisfy the ldquoelectiverdquo requirement for their State Certification education will be eligible to receive a credit for the difference in cost between full price and the discounted AI price The credit may be applied toward one designation courseexam only
Supervisory AppraiserTrainee Appraiser Course As of January 1 all individuals who become Supervisory Appraisers and Trainee Appraisers will be required to take a SupervisoryTrainee course per the 2015 Real Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria This four-hour course will address the national minimum requirements responsibilities and expectations for Trainee Appraisers and Supervisory Appraisers that are included in the Appraiser Qualifications Boardrsquos required course outline

New Designation Education Pricing Policy for Practicing Affiliates At their November meeting the Board of Directors approved a new policy for designation education pricing for Practicing Affiliates Currently Practicing Affiliates pay full price to take designation education courses Effective January 1 2015 non-state certified Practicing Affiliates who would like to take and pass a designation education courseexam to satisfy the ldquoelectiverdquo requirement for their State Certification education will be eligible to receive a credit for the difference in cost between full price and the discounted AI price The credit may be applied toward one designation courseexam only
Supervisory AppraiserTrainee Appraiser Course As of January 1 all individuals who become Supervisory Appraisers and Trainee Appraisers will be required to take a SupervisoryTrainee course per the 2015 Real Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria This four-hour course will address the national minimum requirements responsibilities and expectations for Trainee Appraisers and Supervisory Appraisers that are included in the Appraiser Qualifications Boardrsquos required course outline
