RealTerm Energy Migrates from Dropbox to Egnyte with Cloud FastPath

The ChallengeSimple, fast and secure collaboration is essential for any energy company, and after a ton of research and experimentation, RealTerm Energy found their perfect partner in Egnyte. Having previously worked with Dropbox, the company turned to Egnyte as its enterprise solution of record because of an internal initiative to make its own operations more collaborative, productive, and secure.

Another big deciding factor was Egnyte’s tight integration with RealTerm Energy’s preferred CRM, Salesforce, and fully integrated signature options. RealTerm Energy’s employees could access the CRM without having to leave the Egnyte web application, as well as create automated workflows between the two systems. Egnyte was also able to provide RealTerm Energy’s IT team with more flexible permissions capabilities.

After choosing Egnyte as their new content collaboration provider, the company sought to move a large quantity of data and users as quickly and efficiently as possible from Dropbox into Egnyte, without affecting access to employee files and while maintaining important permissions and metadata.

Industry leaders make migration and collaboration a seamless experience.

The migration would not be a simple task with a large volume of data and users, a complex folder structure, and the need to report on the migration status of every file. Mirroring permissions, content ownership relationships, and metadata would allow Realterm Energy’s employees to more quickly adopt the new platform and maintain important context of their data.

The SolutionTo accomplish this, RealTerm Energy chose Tervela’s Cloud FastPath, a data movement platform that’s capable of making their migration to Egnyte as efficient and intelligent as their lighting solutions. Cloud FastPath’s self-service SaaS portal allowed RealTerm Energy to easily conduct automated cloud-to-cloud data transfer with robust mapping capabilities, scheduling features, and even simulation reporting to more easily prepare for the migration.

With limited resources, RealTerm Energy could analyze and filter the source data, stream the data directly from Dropbox to Egnyte, and perform a final cutover sync. The migration’s success was verified by Cloud FastPath’s thorough post-migration reporting.
