REC.B & REC2R

The REC SeriesThree versions of solid state contactors are offered in a compact and stylish 44.5mm wide housing.

REC2B

A three-phase contactor withtwo switched poles, while theother pole connects the mainsdirectly to the motor. Thisversion can switch motors up to4kW (5Hp) and is the mostcompact solid state motorcontactor on the market, whichemploys SCR technology. It is amore economical version of theREC3B Series.

REC3B

A three-phase contactor, inwhich all three poles areswitched. Three pole switchingeliminates any phase imbalanceand provides a safer switchingsolution. This option can switchmotors up to 3kW (3Hp)

REC2R

A three-phase reversingcontactor in which two polesinterchange the mainsconnection, while the otherpole is a direct connectionfrom the mains to the motor.Motors up to 3kW (3Hp) canbe reversed.

A Solid State Idea…

• To switch on and off (or reverse) three phase motors with short duty cycles, with the ability to do so more frequently

• To cut down on long term costs related to mechanical contactor replacements and maintenance

• To drastically reduce system downtime, thus maximizing operations efficiency and profitability

• To guarantee repeatable results with each and every switching operation

• To completely eliminate irritating clicking sounds

• To reverse the direction of three-phase motors with a compact solution

• A solid state switch based upon the latest technology and designed using decades of experience

The REC Series of Solid State Contactors

The REC Series of three-phase solid state motor contactors and reversers are designed to cope with allthese requirements. The motor current is switched by a robust combination of back-to-back power thyristors(SCRs).

The output semiconductors will switch on instantaneously upon the application of a control input signal. Thesolid state switch has an integrated heatsink that is enclosed in the plastic housing of the REC Series. Thiseliminates the need for a protective earth (ground) connection, thus making the switch from a mechanicalcontactor easier.

Productivity requirements are continuously on theincrease and so is the reliability of the process. Unlikemechanical contactors, the REC Series does notexhibit any contact de-bouncing or contactdegradation by arcing. This leads to an excellentresponse time between application of the controlsignal to the REC and the switching of the outputsemiconductors.

The REC can be mounted on DIN-rail and alsodirectly to the enclosure back panel though themounting bracket.

Control voltage is applied through a detachableinput connector located on the front of thecontactor. The screw terminals for motor and mainsconnection are similar to conventional mechanicalcontactors. The REC2R Series features anelectronic interlock as a standard feature to preventsimultaneous switching of two phases.

This is always a priority and is mostly needed inprocesses where a system failure is costly since theraw material being worked upon would have to bescrapped.

The REC Series of solid state contactorscontributes to a decrease in maintenance costs, anincrease in process efficiency, as well as a decreasein long term costs related to repair and contactorreplacements.

Page 6: REC Reversing Contactors

Typically, an electromechanical reversing contactorconsists of two contactors occupying a minimumwidth of 90mm of panel space, together with atiming/control module. With the REC2R Series, only45mm is required, thus saving at least 50% of panelspace compared to a conventional electromechani-cal reversing contactor assembly.

Space Saver

• Easily connected to the base of the REC housing• Provides mechanical compatibilityfor other overload relays(Please see the datasheet for more information)

A selection of motor overload relays can also be mounted directly to the electrical connection. Theadaptor can be snapped to the base of the REC Series in order to also provide a reliable and sturdymechanical connection between of the REC Series and the motor overload relay.
