RECA Sebs - Self Drilling Screws

Drilling and Tapping in One Operation!

RECA Sebs give optimal drilling performance due to their exact drill diameter and thread. They are manufactured within tight tolerance limits which result in smoother, easier installation and a secure joint between the two materials.

Features

Forged Drill Tip: In comparison to the milled drill heads on conventional self drilling screws, the head of the RECA Sebs are forged. This results in a noticeably better material structure of the tip which gives a faster and more stable fixing.

Patented geometry of the cutting edge: The cutting edge of RECA Sebs have a point angle of 96° (twist drill 118°) consequently the design of the forged point gives a sharp, clean cutting edge.

PVC Profile: The most popular material for double glazed window and door frames is PVC-U (Poly Vinyl Chloride Unplasticised). Its popularity is due to several different factors, but mainly the fact that it is the cheapest material for frames. It also has excellent heat insulation properties and is durable, so making it ideal for variable climates.

Reinforcement in PVC-U: On the downside it lacks strength. Window and door frames should not be load bearing, so they are strengthened by either steel or aluminium profiles inserted into, normally, the largest of the c hambers. So a reinforced frame has a PVC-U outer and a metal insert. A self driller is therefore ideal as it can go through both materials.

What are Friction Stay Screws?

Friction hinges/stays are found on all PVC-U type frames. They simply help you to open your window. Friction stay screw help fasten these hinges down.

Chipboard Screws - Torx

Torx Head, Yellow Passivated

Yellow chromate single thread screw. Suitable for all types of hard & softwoods, MDF,

laminated and waterproof chipboards, plywood and other wood based materials.

The main advantage of a Torx head over a standard Pozi head is, as the name suggests, it allows the user to torque the screw more than it would normally be possible.

Also the design of the Torx means that the material they are being applied into is less likely to be damaged from the force that is applied.

A general note - it is said the Torx bits themselves last up to 5 times longer since it is difficult to damage the head via stripping!
