My location will be on La Chaux ski run Verbier, Switzerland. I chose to film here because it has wide runs, has a chair lift which goes over the top, meaning I can get high angle shots easily, and the run is for skiers at a high level. Meaning we can build a high pace when skiing and therefore make the film opening more naturalistic, and more importantly realistic. The reason to why I am using this specific slope is due to the fact that it has many positive features in one run that I can use. As they are all in one run the continuity of the film opening will be higher, and therefore again add to the believability of the scene. Some of these features include: steep slopes, off piste, piste runs, jump/freestyle park and a ski lift which runs over the slope.

The main reason to why I’m filming in this part of the world is not only because that is where I will be located over Christmas, but also the shots that can be created from the Alps are insane. The background to nearly all the shots will be outstanding and therefore add to the action and intenseness of the scene.

1. This will be where I will take my establishing shots from. And my establishing shot will look similar to this.

2. This is a long shot of the run in which the majority of my film opening will be filmed on.

3. There is a jump in which the landing is on an air bag. Because of this we will be able to try more complex tricks which will be more effective. The shots can then be cut to landing on a normal jump and therefore we can make it look like we do massive jumps which look more impressive.

4. This is a similar picture to the shots we get when skiing off piste.5. This is the jump park where the freestyle aspects of the film opening will be filmed.

Due to the gaps down the side of the jumps we will be able to have someone film the jumps as well as film them with a first person view with the go pro.

6. This is a shot of the lift and this is where the beginning of the film will be shot. You see here the size of the lift, as well as the height. Due to the fact that the lift isn’t too high off the ground the shots will be close enough to see vital details.

7. The air shots will be shot like this so the ground isn’t in the shot but the mountains are in the background of the shots. This will put the severity of the situation and location into context with the size of the rea that the charterers are surrounded by.

8. This is also a shot of the chairlift I will be on. The reason for this shot is to show how far away the camera will be when filming the person on the lift. This enables us to gauge the quality of the shot and the detail in which we will see from this distance.

Shots 3-8:

All of these shots will be shot in, on and around the chair lift. The reason to why I am filming so many shots at this point is because it will set the film up for the audience and introduce characters objectives and personalities. The chair lift is particularly slow and

because of this it gives time for close ups and reactions to be put across to the viewers. Also it will be a contrast in comparison to the rest of the opening. (As soon as they ae off the chair lift the cuts will be frequent and the pace is higher). Another factor as to why this chair lift specifically, is because of the fact that it is so high on the mountain, this means that the backdrop and views will be far more stunning, and this will hopefully create some incredible effects.

Shots 9-13:

These shots/clips will all be filmed on the slope, on and off piste. This means that firstly due to the fact that it’s being filmed on the same slope, the continuity will be the same. In these shots it’s very important that the distance between the two characters doesn’t change too dramatically however it has to be made clear that the back person is reducing the gap between to two chasing.

Rest of shots:

These will be in the lower half of the run and therefore this will include the jump park. This means that we can get shots of jumps and tricks however still keeping with the continuity of the run.
