Diocesan Plan for Reopening Limited Masses
Dear Parish Family,
After two and a half months of weathering this storm, we are now being directed by our Bishop to make arrangements to be able to come together and celebrate the Eucharist in person, outdoors for the moment, on church property.
This is great news for all of us since we have been able to only participate in the live streamed Masses and doing Spiritual Communion. What a great weekend to announce this news as we commemorate the birthday of The Church with the outpouring of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
I would like to really commend you for your patience, understanding, prayers and support as we navigated and continue to navigate this challenging way of being Church. I would like to thank you all for keeping your regular and extra financial contributions which have helped us keep Holy Family, Our Spiritual Home, running.
The following is the information provided for us by our Bishop with guidelines and protocols to continue to offer “proper pastoral care while been socially responsible.” I will have a meeting Monday with key leadership from the parish to establish the plan and schedule for Masses which we may start on The Most Holy Trinity, the weekend of June 6th and 7th.
Again, thank you for your support, patience and understanding.
Greetings and Blessings,
Rev. César Vega-Mendoza Pastor
“Click on the link below to read the Diocesan plan for Reopening Limited Mass. While pastors have already been working to prepare for reopening our parishes, it will take more time so we thank you in advance for your patience. In most of our counties only outdoor Masses could be possible this weekend, and the priests of the Yakima area have already agreed that public Masses won't begin until the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, June 6-7. The dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday and Holy Day Masses remains in effect, and livestream Masses will continue to be offered for the foreseeable future. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available at this time by appointment; further guidance is being developed for priests and will be provided to them as soon as possible. Blessings! “

Pentecost and the Priesthood By Tricia Tembreull

In my life, I have been blessed to attend a few ordinations, and I have to say, an ordination is hands down my favorite sacrament to witness. I know, I should say it ’s a wedding or a baby ’s baptism, but they just don ’t compare.
Witnessing men will ingly l ie prostrate on a cathedral f loor for their Bride, the Church, symbolizing the unworthiness for the office and complete dependence upon God is the most self less act of sacrif ice and humility.
Watching the bishop and brother priests lay hands on the man being ordained moves me to tears as I fully grasp the apostolic tradit ion being handed down before my eyes. At that very moment, the ordained invoke the Holy Spirit to come down to give him a sacred character and set him apart for ministry in the Church .
I remember watching a mother weep as an elderly priest clothed her newly ordained son with a stole and chasuble. I asked her afterward what she was thinking about at that moment. She said she remembered her son as a child, dressing him, feeding him, and bathing him. To see a priest cover her son with priestly garments was the tenderest moment (and flashback) of the ordination for her .
Today’s Gospel (John 20:19-23) reminds me of two particular moments during an ordination: the anointing of the hands and the handing of the chalice and paten.
I f ind it remarkable when Jesus came to the upper room; He showed His wounded hands and side. The same feet anointed by Mary with costly spikenard, in preparation for His burial, stood before them in resurrected glory. Hands that, days before, broke bread with them at the last supper now touched them with an embrace. And instead of saying, “Where were you when I needed you most?” or “Why did you abandon me?” He said, “Peace be with you, ” and “Receive the Holy Spir it.”
There is an equally peaceful encounter between the bishop when he takes the hands of the soon to be ordained and anoints them, saying, “The Father anointed our Lord Jesus Christ through the power

Pentecost is sometimes called the birthday of the
Church. The Gospel for Pentecost reminds us that the
Church begins with the command to forgive. Within
the family, the domestic Church, we learn how to
forgive and how to accept forgiveness. The gift of the
Holy Spirit enables us to do both. Today is a fitting
time to share a family celebration of reconciliation.
As you gather together as a family, sit quietly for a
few minutes, inviting everyone to reflect upon their
need to forgive and to receive forgiveness. If there is a
situation or an issue within the family that needs
attention, spend some time reflecting on how your
family might address it. Read together today’s Gospel,
John 20:19-23. Talk together about how Jesus gave us
the gift of the Holy Spirit to help us in the work of
forgiveness and to bring us peace. Pray together
today’s Psalm or the Prayer to the Holy Spirit, asking
that the holy Spirit help your family. Share with one
another a Sign of Peace.
PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful.
And kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
And you will renew the face of the earth.
Lord,
by the light of the Holy Spirit
you have taught the hearts of your faithful.
In the same Spirit
help us to relish what is right
and always rejoice in your consolation.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

of the Holy Spir it. May Jesus preserve you to sanctify the Christian people and to offer sacrif ice to God.” These hallowed hands will anoint the sick, baptize, confirm, and bless the people entrusted to his care.
And then, the bishop places in the same anointed hands the chalice and the paten that will be used for the Eucharistic celebration, praying, “Accept from the holy people of God the gifts to be offered to him. Know what you are doing, and imitate the mystery you celebrate; model your l ife on the mystery of the Lord ’s cross.” His hands will accept our offering and turn it into the Body and Blood of Christ; through the power of the Holy Spirit, ordinary will become extraordinary.
On this Pentecost Sunday, I choose to remember and honor the priests who have laid down their l ives for us. I pray every day that priests wake up hearing the words of Christ in the Gospel of John, “Peace be with you. As the Father sent me, so I sent you ” (John 20:21), and they are set ablaze to ignite a f ire in every person they receive.
On the day of priestly ordination, the ordained “Receive the Holy Spir it. ” They are, in a way, sent out of the upper room with the command, “Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained. ” It is through the power of the Holy Spir it, “whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you” (John 14:26). Priests have responded to this call ing with obedience and submission.
Let us pray for our priests today and remember they were not called to be administrators, budget keepers, or parish architects and developers; they were called to the vocation of the priesthood to set the world on fire with the Good News of Jesus Christ. I pray we will respond to the promptings of the Holy Spir it as obediently as our priests and help them build the Kingdom of God on earth through our service, action, and words.
This Sunday, May 31st will be the 5th Sunday of the month when we traditionally have ushers at the doors for the St. Vincent collection. We will be glad to forward any donations that we receive thru the mail, thru our mail
slot in the door or you may drop off to us during office hours. Thank you for your generosity during this trying time and St. Vincent appreciates all that you do for their organization to help those in need.

SPIRITUAL
COMMUNION
COMUNIÓN
ESPIRITUAL
SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You
into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You
sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
ORACIÓN DE COMUNIÓN ESPIRITUAL
Creo Señor mío que éstas realmente presente en el Santísimo
Sacramento del altar. Te amo sobre todas las cosas y deseo
ardientemente recibirte dentro de mi alma;
pero, no pudiendo hacerlo ahora sacramentalmente, ven al menos
espiritualmente a mi corazón. Y como si te hubiese recibido, me abrazo y me uno todo a Ti; Oh Señor, no permitas que me
separe de Ti. Amen
ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL PRAYER
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;
be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O prince of
the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits who
prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.
