My department is currently preparing a comprehensive FAQs list and integrated communications strategy that will ensure responses to the community and industry bodies are coordinated and appropriate. The Projects Chief Executive will be sharing this with your Directors-General in the coming months.
By the end of this calendar year, the QWB project site will be vacated of all government and non-government tenants (with the exception of a few longer term leaseholders) so that works can commence in January 2017. This is anticipated to begin with the closure of William Street and Queens Wharf Road, the erection of fencing and project hoarding and the commencement of building decommissioning and services relocation works.
My department has been and will continue to work closely with Queensland Treasury, the Department of Transport and Main Roads and the Department of Housing and Public Works to ensure all public servants and ministerial staff moving in to 1 William Street will be well informed of access changes to this end of the CBD and what this will mean for commuters and visitors alike.
The commencement of works on the QWB site is a major milestone for this project for Brisbane and Queensland more broadly. I thank you for your assistance to date and continued cooperation during the delivery of what will be a legacy development.
If you have any questions about my advice to you, Mr Paul Woodland, Chief of Staff, will be pleased to assist you and can be contacted on 3719 7360.

The former MEDQ declared the QWB PDA, on 28 November 2014, to facilitate the planning and delivery of an integrated resort development including a casino and other related development on the site. The PDA consists of approximately 26.8 hectares of land and water in the south-west corner of the Brisbane city centre including approximately one kilometre of Brisbane River frontage.
The QWB Integrated Resort Development is a major project which will transform the south-western edge of Brisbane's CBD, attracting significant investment to our city and creating up to 3000 jobs during construction and 8000 ongoing jobs post-construction.
