    RECEPTIONS HALF TERMLY NEWSLETTER

    SUMMER TERM 2

    Dear Parent/Carer,

Welcome to our new half term. We can hardly believe we are in the final

half term of Reception with the children looking forward to the holidays

and then an exciting transition into Year One! During this half term the

children will visit their new area in school, and lots of discussion and

activities will take place to help make the changes as smooth as possible.

The children who will start Reception in September will also be visiting

our area and we are sure that our own children will be really grown up and

helpful in their transition process too.

Our new topic this term will be based around the theme of Exploring

Colour! We hope this will provide a wide variety of activities which will be

exciting for the children as well as looking forward to Year One. We will continue to work on letters, sounds, action words, spelling patterns and all

the related reading and writing activities. The children will also be

encouraged in all areas of their mathematical learning including number,

addition and subtraction, shape, measures, money and many more! The

theme will also bring in lots of opportunities for the children to problem

solve. There will be weekly themes which will help to lead the learning

across all the curriculum areas. These will also form the basis of our

Show & Tell items for each Friday as set out below Friday 5th June Favourite Colour

This half term we are fortunate to have a PE coach coming into school to

work with the Reception children. This means that outdoor PE will change

to a Wednesday afternoon rather than Thursdays for the duration of the

term. Please ensure that PE kits are in school and that any earrings are

removed. Thank you for your cooperation.

As the days get warmer, and we hopefully get more sun, could we please

ask you to be aware that your child will need to have a sun hat/cap at

school and have sun cream applied before coming to school if required.

Please can you ensure that all the children continue to wear sensible

shoes so that they can stay safe with the outdoor activities.

Our playgrounds are often very windy so even on the warm days please

could the children all have a coat with them just in case!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support

with your childs learning during the Reception year. We wish all the

children well in their continuing learning journey in our school.

    Many thanks,

    Reception Staff
