Dear Friends,
Welcome to the Platts Global Energy Awards. We are proud to host this prestigious program for the thirteenth consecutive year and delighted that you could join us here tonight as we celebrate the accomplishments of our 2011 winners.
The Platts Global Energy Awards honor organizations and individuals in the energy industry who are dedicated to achieving excellence. Given the industry’s profound impact on society, we believe that those who are committed to addressing the industry’s most pressing issues and uncovering its greatest opportunities deserve high public praise for their positive contributions.
We were happy to see yet another year of 200+ high-quality nominations in 2011. We received a large number of nominations in the “Outstanding Programs” category this year, including Energy Efficiency Program and Community Development Program of the Year. This reaffirms the industry’s increasing commitment to consume and supply energy in smarter ways and to advance economic and social development while doing business. We look forward to recognizing our finalists’ and winners’ achievements in pursuing these cleaner energy and community initiatives as well as their vision and leadership in other key areas.
We are honored once again to host this important gathering with Capgemini, who has been our principal sponsor for the past nine years, and to be joined tonight by our other sponsors, Elster and SAIC.
We are delighted that so many of our finalists are able to participate in our celebration this evening. We congratulate them on their achievements, and thank you all for coming out to honor them.
Sincerely,
Larry NealPresident, Platts
