Today we cele-brate what is commonly known as “Corpus Christi,” or formally - The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. In today’s

celebration we rejoice in the gift of The Eucharist and the fulfillment of the promise Jesus made to be with us until the end of time (Mt 28:20). Besides re-ception of The Blessed Sacrament, we also venerate and adore the Eucharist as it is the presence of God Himself. At St. Pius X, one way we can do that is by spending time in His presence in Eu-charistic Adoration. Though the Per-petual Adoration Chapel is closed, St. Pius X has been having Adoration and Benediction Wednesday at 6 p.m., and Adoration all day on Thursday from after the 6 a.m. Mass to 4:45 p.m. Addi-tionally, the Church is open daily until 6 p.m. if you’d like to spend time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle. Please make plans to spend some time with Jesus on this very special day.

The Eucharist is the "source and sum-mit" of our sacramental faith, and our devotion to Jesus cannot be complete without devotion to His presence in the Blessed Sacrament. In past years, be-havior in our churches generally re-

flected the reverence we should have when in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. It seems we were more properly attired, were quiet, and were attentive to the fact that we were in the presence of God when entering a Cath-olic Church. It was a good habit to practice reverence in the church build-ing as a reminder of the Eucharistic Presence, but it is a habit many have abandoned in recent years. It was not long ago that leaving immediately after Communion was not proper, but rather taking some time to thank God after Communion was the norm, as was re-maining after Mass in quiet prayer. Quiet reverence in the church building is also an act of good manners in that those praying would not be disturbed or distracted in their prayers. Reverent behavior is a reminder to us of the awe we should have in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament and God's great love for us in giving us the Eucharist. This weekend, as we celebrate Corpus Christi, let us also reflect on our behav-ior in the presence of the Blessed Sacra-ment. We should do so not only this weekend, but at all times we are in a church or chapel, and if we need to, adjust our behavior to properly honor and revere the presence of God in the Eucharist.

Welcome Dylan Allen, Our Summer Seminarian

We welcome our summer seminarian, Mr. Dylan Allen, this weekend who

will be with us until July 31st. His home parish is in Mandeville, La and he will be entering his senior year of theology studies at St. Joseph’s Semi-nary in Covington. Every summer, the Diocese places seminarians in residence at one of the 120 parishes throughout the Diocese. It is sort of like an “internship” for the seminarian and serves as an opportunity to be under the mentorship of the Pastor and Asso-ciate Pastor. They also have a ministry area they are to focus on. Dylan’s prin-cipal work this summer will be to assist in parish administration and liturgies. We look forward to working with Dyl-an over the summer and pray for clari-ty and fortitude in his discernment pro-cess.

First Communion and Confirmation Last week and this coming week we will complete our Sacraments of Initia-tion with our First Communion and Confirmation classes. There are some 100 candidates for each Sacrament, so the liturgies had to be divided into 4 groups for each. It is certainly a special time for us as a parish to see our young children and young adults continue to mature in their faith. We thank all those who have helped prepare the candidates for reception of the sacra-ments. Please keep the candidates and their families in your prayers.

Couples Retreats

Please help to welcome Dylan Allen, St. Pius X’s summer seminarian, and see below for a personal

message from him: My name is Dylan Allen, and I am a seminarian for the Diocese of Lafayette. I will begin my senior year at St. Jo-seph’s Seminary College in Covington, Louisiana, in the fall, and this will be my 3rd year in seminary. I am original-ly from Mandeville, Louisiana, and graduated from Fontainebleau High School in 2016. After graduation, I attended UL right here in Lafayette for 2 years before entering the seminary in August 2018. Here’s a little bit about myself. I am the youngest of 6, and my sib-lings live across the country from Nevada to Virginia and all in between. I enjoy travelling, hiking, playing tennis, and watching college baseball just to name a few hobbies. I am also an extrovert and love being around people! So, I look forward to being with you here at St. Pius X for the sum-mer, and if there’s anything I can do for you, feel free to reach out to me! Thank you and God bless! - Dylan Allen

First Prayer to Our Lady O Mary, You shine continuously on our journey as a

sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick. At the foot of the cross, You partici-

pated in Jesus’ pain with steadfast faith. You, “Salvation of the Roman people,“ know what we need. We are cer-tain that you will provide, so that as you did at Cana of

Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform our-selves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us. He who took our sufferings upon himself and bore our sorrows, to bring us through the cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge under your protec-tion, O Holy Mother of God; Do not despise our pleas - we, who are put to the test -and deliver us from every

danger, O Glorious and Blessed Virgin.

If you’d like to continue your generosity through your offertory giving, you may do so by using your envelopes, which can be mailed or dropped off in the night Drop Box out-side of our office. Or, online through our website at https://stpiusxchurch.org/online-giving.
