SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT - MAJOR

- Sony music entertainment is a major American music company. It is a subsidiary of Japanese conglomerate Sony Corporation. Sony was first founded in 1929 but then bought out by Sony corporation of Japan in 1991, renamed it SME. It is the world's second largest recorded music company, after Universal Music Group. Sony also make big American films, for example Resident evil, as they are one of the biggest film companies in the world. They market artist by looking at how successful they have been and they potential they may have.

Furthermore Sony have many of their own studios for their artist as the own every layer of production. The make sure their artist are all under contracts and they have major control over their artists. Some of the videos that are Sonys are songs like Little Mix’s Salute and Chris Browns Loyal video. I think that Sony would suit our artist as they have a lot of the newest equipment which could help our artist to continue to release new songs. Also as it is a major record label it could help get our artists name out there more as Sony songs are often played in their blockbuster films.

INDEPENDENT CASE STUDY XL - INDEPENDENT

XL Recordings is a British independent record label which was launched by Tim Palmer, Nick Halkes and Richard Russell in 1989. The label was originally formed to release rave and dance music but later decided to broading their decisions to appeal to a more wider audience. It now produces music from all different kinds of genres.

XL Studio - In early 2008, Russell transformed the rear garage of the label's Ladbroke Grove headquarters into a small, in-house recording and mixing studio called XL Studio. It served as a makeshift studio space for the label's various artists and his own projects until producer Rodaidh McDonald was assigned in September of that year to manage and properly equip it in preparation for the xx to record their self-titled debut album.

This record label would be suitable for our artist because they allow their artist to be free and do their own things without having any other control for the label. This means that our artist can be creative and free when making music video.
