    Examination ofThe Church Manual! As a student in this course of study, you will be challenged toreflect on the socio-political implications of being a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, atonce a global phenomenon, a community institution, and the body of Christ. Through a historical,

    Biblical, and thematic reading of the Seventh-day Adventist Church Manual, you will be empowered toassist the Church in fulfilling its evangelistic mandate by knowing your rights and responsibilities,understanding your membership in a local and global context, and becoming conversant in itsorganizational structure.

    This course has three components culminating in the Great Disappointment /Awakeningcommemoration of 22 October. The first part is an inquiry into the organization of leadership andstructure at the local church level and the superstructural nature of the church. The second part examthe historical evolution and development of the church structure that is currently in place. The third paraddress the Fundamental Beliefs of the Church and its role in the recovery of prophetic consciousnes

    As you enter into a deeper relationship with the church through your study of the Church Manual, you be poised to articulate a thoughtful and constructive response to the following question, How can the

    Church Manualsustainprophetic consciousness that is necessary for the completion of the Great

    Commission in my generation?

    2. Be present and on time for all class meetings with your Bible, required texts, handouts, writingutensils, and three-ring binder.

    3. Complete all assignments and readings before the meetings so that you will be able to participin the discussions in an informed, productive manner. If you have any questions, feel free tocontact the course instructor by phone or email.
