While the person is in crisis placement, wework to link people to services and supportsin the community, which include financialcounseling, social, medical and mental healthsupports. We also offer each person admittedto our crisis beds an assessment andevaluation to determine current mentalstatus, develop an individual service plan anda discharge/ transition plan. Crisis bed staysare for 10 days.

Residential Crisis Program

Mountain Manor Recovery SupportServices offers four residential crisis beds(2 men, 2 women). Crisis services offer analternative to hospital inpatient admissionor an extended stay in a hospital.

Individuals must be 18 or over who wouldotherwise be placed in an inpatient facilityif not for the availability of the crisis unit.

Persons must be ambulatory, able to provideself-care and administer their ownmedications. No detox is provided.

Referrals

Any Carroll County resident who is homelessmay be referred by the Carroll County HealthDepartment (CCHD). Contact the CCHD at(410) 876-4800 or RSS at (410) 795-5767.

Recovery Support Services (RSS)

RSS provides an integrated network ofrecovery-oriented behavioral healthservices that foster self-sufficiency.Carroll County has contracted withMaryland Treatment Centers/MountainManor to establish the Recovery SupportServices described in this brochure.

RSS is a six- to nine-month recoverysupport program offered to homelessCarroll County residents with a history ofsubstance abuse or co-occurring mentalhealth disorders.

Program Goals & Objectives

Each client will:

● Develop and follow a Recovery Planand Transitional Plan to IndependentLiving

● Improve social and psychiatric healthas well as physical and behavioralhealth

● Develop positive working skills aswell as consistent skills in activities ofdaily living

● Achieve full employment or the abilityto become financially self-sufficient

● Develop a Personal RelapsePrevention Plan

● Develop a positive support system andbecome actively involved in a self-help group/twelve step program.

Addiction

Addiction is a disease - one that must bemanaged for the remainder of a person’slife. If someone is struggling withsubstance abuse, treatment addresses theunderlying issues that may have led tonegative consequences. RSS supportstreatment offered by other providers at ourlocation. RSS supports many of the toolsneeded to implement skills learned anddeveloped through treatment.

Our program provides a cost-effectivealternative to unnecessary emergencyroom visits, or in-patient stays and allowsfor early release from the legal system.

We offer individualized support thatengage the resident in the recoveryprocess. We know that many of ourresidents no longer have positiverelationships with their family. We work torestore those relationships and establishnew trusting relationships for a person freefrom alcohol, heroin or other substances.

Basic Admission Criteria

Residents must:

● Be 18 years of age or older and homeless.

● Have a history of substance abuse or co-occurring substance abuse and mentalhealth disorders.

● Participate in 20 hours of structuredactivities each week (includingemployment, volunteering, orparticipating in on-site or off-sitetherapeutic groups). RSS offers life skillsand other groups as well.

● Contribute 30% of their gross income andapply for all eligible benefits.

● Agree to become employed, develop ajob-seeking plan or enroll in aneducational/ vocational program or beproductive in other daily activities (alladmissions are voluntary).

● Be physically and mentally capable ofparticipating in the program schedule.

● Be ambulatory or able to self-care forpersonal hygiene and capable of self-administration of prescribed medicationsand OTC medications and appropriatesupplements.

Medications are locked in a secure location.Residents have access to medications only atdesignated times.

Benzodiazepines and narcotics are notallowed in the program, except under certainexceptions, which are considered on anindividualized basis.
