Introduction

British American Tobacco (BAT) is a British multinational Tobacco Company, headquartered in London, United Kingdom.

It is the world’s second largest quoted tobacco group by global market share; it has market-leading position in over 50 countries and operations in around 180 countries.

BAT is the only international tobacco group with a significant interest in tobacco leaf growing, working with thousands of farmers internationally.

British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB) was established in 1998. They are a leading business organization in the industrial sector employing more than 1,300 employees directly and a further 40,000 indirectly as farmers, distributors and suppliers.

BATB has its headquarter in Dhaka with a tobacco leaf processing operation in kushtia. The first factory was set up in Fauzdarhat area of Chittagong in 1954. The second factory was set up in 1965 in Dhaka.

Currently, BATB has two factories in Bangladesh. The Cigarette Manufacturing Factory is located on the same premises as the Head Office in Mohakhali, Dhaka. The Green Leaf Threshing Plant (GLTP) is situated in Kushtia.

• Recruitment is a process of attracting individual on a timely basis in sufficient numbers and with appropriate qualifications and encouraging them to apply for jobs within an organization.

• The recruitment process takes about a month from beginning to the employment. The process starts by the need of a personnel following post, or manpower required in a certain wing or department of the project.

1.Put out job advertising

Online application Form. Candidates download an application form and fill in the necessary details for the primary requirements of the job.(age, name etc)

British American Tobacco Bangladesh has been in e-resourcing since 2002.

2. Filter application forms

Filtering the candidates to be called for interview takes about 7 days to evaluate. In this process, the applications both online and via mail are evaluated on the basis of accordance with the requirements of the certain post.

3.Preliminary Interview

After the application is successful, Candidate will be invited to a preliminary interview which will be taken by a member from the function to which you have applied and a member of the Human Resource team.

4. Short listing

Second filtrations of candidates take place. The candidates receiving the board’s attention is short-listed for the second date of final interview. After the preliminary interview session, the qualified candidates are short listed again from the assessment centre.

5. Selecting

After overall process on the interview board is evaluated in the assessment centre and rated by the board of members. To identify their knowledge and skills by using various techniques were used such as:

Assessment Centre

The candidates who selected in the preliminary interview are invited to a specifically designed British American Tobacco assessment centre.

This provides them with the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and performance.

• The physical test is administered by Medinova Dhaka to measure the HIV, Hepatitis B, C or such many diseases in its applicant’s health and fitness for job effort.
