Properties of Rectangles
Opposite sides of a rectangle are the same length(congruent).
The angles of a rectangle are all congruent(the same size and measure).
Remember that a 90 degree angle is called a “right angle.” So, a rectangle has four right angles. Opposite angles of a rectangle are congruent
Opposite sides of a rectangle are Parallel
Formulas Relevant to Rectangles
To find the perimeter of a rectangle add up all the lengths of the sides.P=2L+2W
To find the area of a rectangle, multiply the length times the widthArea= L x W
To find the length of a diagonal of a rectangle, use the Pythagorean Theoremd^2=L^2 +W^2
Diagonals of Rectangles
A square of a diagonal length is equal to a sum of squares of its sides lengths.
Diagonals of a rectangle are equal and bisect each other.
