TO HELP THE RECYCLING NEED?
Students in Free EnterpriseSIFE
• NWACC’s SIFE team structurized a recycle program to help our college save money –RECYCLE at NWACC was created
on March of 2007• Before our SIFE team implemented a recycle program our campus did not have a recycling program.
• “The NWACC SIFE Recycle project exists in an attempt to reduce the waste stream NWACC produces…
• By comparing the savings, that SIFE is responsible for we have effectively almost cut the schools yearly waste expenditures in half….” Rob Lovejoy Project Leader
• “NWACC spends $12,000 on waste removal each year, our SIFE has saved the college $10, 000,” says Rob
• Emptying out the bottles has become a lot harder to keep up with.
• Our SIFE team’s future goal with this project is to reduce our energy consumption within our campus and to have a third party involved with emptying the recycle bottles.

• 62% of the rainwater and air conditioning condensation from the roof is captured in two cisterns
• Estimated the water will be harvested to serve the systems for 322 days a year.
1. Rooftop Rain Water

• The wetlands is designed to remove all types of pollutants.
• It’s comprised of pools, winding flow patterns, and vegetated areas
2. Preservation of Clabber Creek Eco
System• Designed to provide extended treatment
time for storm water runoff• Plants in this area helps aid in the
scrubbing of storm water
3. Retention Pond
“CLEANS” Water
•Water from rainwater harvesting tanks is pumped into a drip irrigation system•Water is released at slow pace so the plants can use the water more efficiently
4. Drip Irrigation
•Provides an area for storm water to percolate through sand and gravel slowly•Portion of the runoff is first routed into a bioswale while the rest is carried off to the wetland
5. Bioswale
•60% of water used are reclaimed to reduce the water consumption•Gray water is cleaned and reused for additional wash cycles.
6. Carwash Reuses Water
•Used on jewelry counters, freezer and cooler doors, and exterior building signage•LED does not require heating a filament to create light
7. LED Lighting
•Daylight comes through the Club by 219 skylights •Lowers energy consumption
8. Daylight Harvesting
• Organic food from the club are separated and processed by a third party to create compost
• Reduces the waste sent to the local landfill with an
estimated 180 tons per YEAR
