RECYCLING

Page 2: Recycling maja eng

Everybody already knows that recycling is reusing raw materials from waste materials.

Recycling has got 3 basic principles (RRR):-reduce

-reuse -recycle

Most common waste materials for recycling are paper, metal, plastic, glass, electrical and electronic waste and compost.

GLASS RECYCLINGFirst, we have to say that

glass comes from natural resources so we have to take care of its stocks.

When we produce glass we spend a lot of energy and we release a lot of emissions (harmful gas). So for example, if we recycle one glass bottle we can save enough energy for one light bulb of 100W to produce light for 4 hours.

And we also need to know that recycling is not the best solution for glass, we could spend so much less energy and natrual resources if we use returnable packaging.

PAPER RECYCLING

Paper also comes from natrual resources - wood.

If we want paper we have to cut a lot of trees and now we are talking about cutting millions and millions of trees and as it's a natural resource we need to take care of its stocks.

An example of unconcern is China. In the past China was 95% covered with forest and trees, but today, only 5% of its territory is covered with forest.

In our trash there is 30% of paper and if we recycle 1 tone of paper we save a lot of electricity and water. We pollute air 74% less and we save 17 trees.

ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC WASTE RECYCLING

Electrical and electronic waste belongs to toxic waste. This kind of waste contains mercury, lead and other toxic substances.

If we throw it or dispose of it inapropriately it pollutes and destroys our enviroment, it causes all kinds of diseases and it takes our lives to death. It's advised to buy quality products, repair old ones or properly dispose of broken ones.
