Principal’s Notes…. Dear Parents, We want to thank all of our parents who helped to make our Parent-Teacher Conferences such a success. Because of you and your commitment to your child’s success, our partnership is highly effective. Grandparents Day! Grandparents are invited to come and visit their student’s classroom on Friday September 9th. The classroom teacher will give times for visitation. We would also like to invite all grandparents to join us for lunch in the cafeteria.

Second Grade Interactive Notebooks Second grade is excited that we have implemented Interactive Notebooks for Language Arts this year! Our students

really enjoy the hands on it provides them. Students are not only excited about creating these notebooks, but they

enjoy using them as well. If all goes well, we plan to add Interactive Notebooks for Math next year!

Fall Intercession begins September 26th – October 14th, 2016. The School office will be closed the week

of October 10th-14th, 2016. Students return on Monday, October 17th.

Time Change: Our Friday, September 9th morning assembly will begin at 10:00 a.m. instead of the usual

8:30 a.m. time. This is due to our Grandparents visiting for Grandparents’ Day!

2016-2017 Red Rock Elementary Student Council After a hard fought campaign by all the candidates, the Red Rock student

elections were held on August 18th for officers and August 22nd for class

representatives. Students in 4th through 8th grades listened to speeches

by the candidates and participated in the voting process by casting their

vote and having their voices heard. Congratulations to the following

BIG thank you to all the parents who helped by volunteering at the fair. We couldn’t do it without your help! If you

weren't able to make it to shop at the book fair there is still time to order from our online book fair until

Come out and join us for our 2nd Annual Golden Corral “Family Dinner Night” on Thursday September 22nd. Red

Rock School will receive 20% of the sales from 6:00-8:00pm. We had a great time last year, so we hope you can

make it!

K is for Kindergarten Kindergarten kids work hard and learn a lot in a very short time. Kindergarten is a year of discovery in reading and literacy. In the first few weeks of school, we are learning to recognize simple words in print, including our own names and those of our classmates. Our days include learning about letter-sound correspondence, phonemic awareness, rhyming word families, and sight words. In Math, we are using concrete, visual props like buttons, cubes, and counting bears. We are learning the concepts of more and less, counting, and showing 0-10 … we are writing the digits too! We’re also writing letters and words! Whew! So much learning!
