The year has come to an end. It has been a good year for our chapter. We completed each of the activities that we started. First, we started the year by selecting two excellent teachers to be our Air Force Association Teachers of the Year. First was Mrs. Lori Lindsey of Ft. McCoy. Second was Mr. Mark Kahler of Citrus High School in Citrus County. Each received a Teacher of the Year certificate, a pin, and a $250.00 check. Next, chapter member Dale Katz, who is also a member of the Marion County Civil Air Patrol Composite Squadron 361 and is the leader of their CyberPatriot program, entered his team into the CyberPatriot competition among 4400 teams from all over the country. They won first place as the top Civil Air Patrol unit in the state and sixth in the nation. We welcomed back to our chapter the Arnold Air Society cadets from the University of Florida. We will be working together again. One of the Civil Air Patrol cadets who is also a chapter member named Christopher Katz had a wish to attend the Air Force Academy upon his graduation. He was sponsored by Congressman Ted Yoho and, on May 9th, he was accepted and now is an academy cadet. The Air Force Association held it's Florida State Convention in Orlando in July. Our chapter Vice-President Ben Langer was selected as our Chapter Member of the Year for 2018. We ended the year's activities by setting up membership and information tables on Veteran's Day at the Marion County Veteran's Park and at Lake Hernando's Dragon Boat Festival and Veteran's Fair on November 10th. I want to thank all our members who helped out during the year. Without your help we couldn't have accomplished anything. Here's hoping we have another good year in 2019. I wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a great New Year.
