3. TECHNOLOGY - Materials

SiloMaster has engineered the wall sheets, roof and stiffners focusing on durability,

robustness and light weight.

Steel grade: S450GD high strength steel as per norm EN 10346, this is over the usual

market standard. The choice lowers the weight of the silos and brings advantage in logistics,

erection and on site handling.

Galvanisation: Z600 (Similar to G210, according US Norms). The coating choice offers an

increased service life.

3. TECHNOLOGY - Engineering

The parts are designed in 3D, calculated analytically and verified structurally with finite

elements analisys (FEA).

The applicable engineering norms being:

• EN 1990 Basis of Structural design

• EN 1993 Eurocode 3: Design of steel structures

• Part 1.1. General rules and rules for buildings (EN 1993-1-1:2005)

• Part 1.3. Cold formed thin gauge members and sheeting (EN 1993-1-3:2006)

• Part 1.5. Plated structural elements (EN 1993-1-5:2006)

• Part 1.8. Design of joints (EN 1993-1-8:2005)

• Part 4-1. Silos (EN 1998-4:2006)

3. TECHNOLOGY - Roofs

SiloMaster silos feature a roofs pitch of 30 which

provides integrity while maintaining low overall heights

for conveyors, elevators and related handling

equipment.

The 30° roof slope also matches the natural angle of

repose for stored material to alleviate silo overfill and

resultant roof damage.

Silo Master roof construction provides unrivalled

strength on commercial silo roofs. All silos, through to

16 meters diameter, have a ONE-PIECE roof panel.

Silos up to 32 meter diameter, feature a two-stage roof.

3. TECHNOLOGY – Wall sheets

SiloMaster provides a wide corrugation profile of 106

mm pitch for only 13 mm profile depth, with a workable

height of 1.166 mm and useful length of 3.140 mm.

Thickness: From 1 mm to 4 mm. If structural calculation

requires higher thickness laminated sheets will be

provided.

Silo wall sheets can admit 2, 3 or 4 stiffeners, which

will depend on each single calculation.

Wind-rings will be installed where required by a specific

calculation, to avoid bending of the silo walls,

especially when the silo es empty, and standing nearby

others.

Page 12: Redefining the future of storage

3. TECHNOLOGY – Stiffeners

SiloMaster vertical stiffeners, assure the best stability

for the silo. The profile is an open “OMEGA”, profile.

Thickness: From 1.5 mm to 6 mm, in pre-galvanised

steel. SiloMaster will avoid using hot dip galvanization

process for stiffeners.

The section of the stiffeners has been designed to

optimize the mechanical resistance effective area.

Additionally, its shape, helps to prepare stable pilings,

to reduce the freight volume (less freight cost) and the

necessary space on site.

To fix the silo to the foundation reinforced anchor plates

are supplied to assist levelling of the silo and to ensure

a perfect transmission of vertical loads to the

foundation.
